Worth the drive.
The course is about 45 minutes from our place in Michigan and we haven’t p;aged it in years, It is a nice layout and worth the drive. After playing we resolved to get back sooner, Unfortunately the course was very wet and and there was no roll whatsoever, The rough was so thick and wet that I lost one ball that probably plugged. This slowed play considerably, A ranger would have helped fill in the gaps ahead of us, The good news was while waiting we found a dozen quality balls, This course has had multiple D2 NCAA men and women championships so it is definitely worth it,
This is a good one
What a great test of golf. Uneven lies all over the place which is why I gave the conditions 4 instead of 5 stars. It's just harder to grow grass in the fairways and roughs on steep angles. I liked the layout of this course the most, holes are next to each other but with heather grass in between it really breaks things up and feels like it's just you on your hole.
I kept the driver in the bag the whole 9 holes from the blue tees and never felt over matched distance wise so it was the right set of tees for me, for sure. Some very cool designed holes where trouble comes into play on the drive or the 2nd shot. Everything was right in front of you so you can see everything and the GolfNow app obviously helps w/ distance and hole layout.
I'll be back to try the other 9 here for sure, if you are a fan of the color blue or black, their golf shop should be in your stop as well. Some cool stuff inside, logoed and not logoed.
Challenging Course
Loved playing the Meadows! We were the first group teeing off in the morning so we had an open course in front of us. Course was challenging, yet rewarded good tee-shots. The amount of tee boxes makes it playable for all ages. Would love to play from the Tournament tees just for the experience next time.
the meadows golf course allendale, michigan
Very fair for all golfers no matter handicap. course was challenging and very well conditioned. would highly recommend to all golfers. very good practice facilities.
Beautiful to look at, but really tough rough
Very nice layout and conditions of course. Take a lot of balls though if you spray it around...there are many areas of beautiful but very tall (18") and unplayable grass. Cheerful staff and great brats and beer.
Links Style
Course is links style and we played right after women's NCAA tournament. Thick rough, greens that ran true and fast. We paid $25 due to Group Golfer coupon otherwise when I looked at the rates is was $49 a bit more than we paid due the coupon. But at $49, it would be worth the cost. Playing it for the first time it can be tough as you don't have good views of the fairway and can't see some of the landing areas.
Available tee times not good
Alright I did not play the course I attempt to make reservations 5 or 6 times and every time I did either course was closed or late tee time (live hour and half way). I had purchased group golfer coupon and could make a tee time. In part their website doesn't eliminate tee times that are used, they don't have calendar of events scheduled to let you know what days are available. I have had similar experience at Michigan State. One course I will cross off my list to play and never played before.
Jungle Rough
Rough has to be cut! 5 feet tall weeds for rough. All people do is look for their lost balls. Makes pace of play terrible. Have way too many leagues & outings there. Greens are full of poa annua grass. No rangers. No PGA pro. For a course so well known, no excuse for not having a real PGA staff. Overpriced!
