Rouge Park Golf Course
About
Rouge Park Golf Course is the city of Detroit's hidden gem. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1923. Despite the expansion of Detroit's golf offerings in later years, Rouge Park G.C. is still considered one of the best and most challenging of them all. The tranquil setting boasts an abundance of wildlife including deer, pheasants, and herons, making you completely forget that you're in the city. The golf course was carved from rolling hills, providing tricky contours and dramatically elevated tees. The Rouge River winds through the layout, coming into play on six holes. The difficulty of the course is balanced by the wide, player-friendly fairways. The par-4 11th is considered one of the Detroit metro area's toughest holes. It requires a 280-yard drive in order to clear not just one but two water hazards.

Not that Great
I booked a tee time at this course because it's only 10 miles from my house and it had 4 stars. Im not that picky when it comes to courses but this one is falling apart and so is the area that surrounds this course. The club house was a little shack that was close to collapsing. The greens were horribly slow compared to most courses. The layout of this course in general was pretty poor as well and mosquitoes were biting uncontrollably. I think im being quite generous giving this place 2 stars. For $18 i can find hot deals on GolfNow for a much better value.
Gr8 couse for a friendly round...
Joined up with two gentlemen, my wife and I enjoyed the day, course and the company. Definitely would play again!!
Slow on a friday
Was asked repeatedly to share a cart with a complete stranger. Several groups of 4+ slowing play down dramatically. Recent rainfall made for some soft spots throughout the course. After again being asked to share a cart with a stranger at the turn I decided to pack up and leave. I skipped ahead a hole to avoid a very slow group as well.
Love the Rouge!
Good ole Rouge Park is better than ever. It's great to see another course in the city back in presentable and great shape!
Will be back many times this summer!
A Diamond in the Rufff
Great course lay out. Been playing there for a couple years now and the conditions on the course have been improving every year.
Greens were excellent!! Some tee boxes need major work. Not in bad shape considering all the rain we had.
Have played Rouge for many years. Greens were the best in years. Some tee boxes have needed to be rebuilt for years. Course has so much potential, needs a little TLC!!
Great shape
Haven't seen Rouge so green! Greens were in really good shape. Hot deals makes this a great value!
Better than last 2 years
Great course for the money. Need a little more work to it.
Very challenging!
Very challenging course. Lost more balls than I wanted trying to get them across the water.
Second timer
The course is challenging

Gr8 course
Excellent value for the money
Friendly staff
We'll kept greens
Great local course!
I liked the level of difficulty of this course. It was challenging, but not impossible to the average golfer. Also, the varying green elevation changes were a great change from the typical local course.
Great course
It is fun course. Price cheap. Definitely wanna play there again. lol-----------------
excellent bang for the buck
Course was in excellent condition, well designed around the rouge river. Very challenging and fun.
Great price and for a great course.
Enjoy a great course for a great rate. Play was smooth and course was in great shape.
Great Course
Pretty nice course. Well maintained and a great value! Plenty of challenging holes. Definitely worth it.
Full or challenges and interesting holes
I had heard about Rouge Park on several occasions and now I have found myself telling others about it. The course is maintained and very challenging (it might have something to do with the Rouge River weaving its way through the course).
The neighborhood might put you off at first, but the staff was very friendly and the strarter was a great guy who helped my twelve year old and I get around the course so that we could enjoy our time there.
I look forward to playing there many more times in the future as the GolfNow.com rate is at times ridiculously low ($10-$12 for this much fun on a golf course?).
You are aware that you wrote this review after the worst winter in decades? I've been to Rouge several times this year and the greens have been better every time out... they are nearly back. Can't blame the course for a harsh winter.
