Rouge Park Golf Course
About
Rouge Park Golf Course is the city of Detroit's hidden gem. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1923. Despite the expansion of Detroit's golf offerings in later years, Rouge Park G.C. is still considered one of the best and most challenging of them all. The tranquil setting boasts an abundance of wildlife including deer, pheasants, and herons, making you completely forget that you're in the city. The golf course was carved from rolling hills, providing tricky contours and dramatically elevated tees. The Rouge River winds through the layout, coming into play on six holes. The difficulty of the course is balanced by the wide, player-friendly fairways. The par-4 11th is considered one of the Detroit metro area's toughest holes. It requires a 280-yard drive in order to clear not just one but two water hazards.

Poor shape, interesting design
The staff is extremely friendly. The course was in poor condition; rough, fairways and tee boxes were all same length. Greens were well kept and fast. Very odd design, some holes were like mini putt layouts. Paid $22, wouldn't pay more than $10 to play again
Rouge park is challenging
Great design and challenge. Make sure you stay on the fairway or hit out of the rough, which makes it challenging
They need someone to actually push pace of play.
The course is in good shape and is overall a challenging layout. I love the course. I absolutely hate the wait on. Every. Single. Shot. It's not the first time, either, as this has been ongoing for years with no one doing anything about the pace of play. I paid for 18 and only played 9 as it took 3 hours.
Not Worth the Money
Relative to the courses you can play for a few extra bucks, this course is substantially over priced. The course overall is unkept and the greens need some attention. Also, the 'club house' is more like a delapitated garage. We waited 40 minutes past our t-time and had to go off of hole 10 and were told that it should be expected. If you sign up for a certain time, you should EXPECT to go off at that time.
Kind of a fun course with a few quirks and a few cool holes that made you think...
First hole was a challenge of shot placement... 7th par 3 had a cool unseen green shot... 8 and 9 were also fun elevation challenges...
Nice course
I played several courses around Dearborn, but I can say Rouge park course is one of the best. Well maintained fairways and fast greens. There is an interesting blind par-3 hole where you can't see the green from the tee box due to the green is in high elevation. I like such dynamic holes.
Great Value
Solid course with pretty good greens. Great value for the price. Pace of play a little slow.
Great municipal course
Don't be fooled by this being a City municipal course it's more than a handful. I am a 4 handicap who often has trouble breaking 80 at this course.
Best Value for your money in the Detroit Area
For $34 on a Sunday morning, you will not find a better golf course for your money. Elevation changes (for Detroit), a Donald Ross course, and fantastic playing conditions. No range on Site but across the street.
Couple tee boxes are in need of replacement but other than that I found nothing wrong with this course.
Decent change of pace
Staff was very friendly. Price was reasonable. Beware: There are a few holes that are tricked up (sharp blind doglegs that run very close to other holes). Other than those 3 or 4 holes, the course was in decent shape, had variation, and presented a fair challenge. A decent change of pace from the northern Oakland county courses we usually play. Planes flying by periodically -- nothing too loud or distracting
Fun course, BEST BURGERS EVER !
This place has it right with the cook and his outdoor grill station making your hotdogs and burgers in realtime! The burgers were awesome. 5star for food! The course was maintained and greens rolled nicely. You can tell they do their best to care for it. The layout of a bit odd and the morning tee time didn't get us out until about 15min late, pace (as expected) was a bit slow because we had some real hacks in front of us who seemed to enjoy hooking into the trees a lot and spending too much time hunting for it.. But this is about the course and playability/conditions. I give them a Solid 3 star for overall. They def care for this old Detroit relic. Fun time for sure. It was a great morning, even with the 4.5hr round. I'd go back for a late day got deal to bang around out there. Plays quite friendly, should t be any reason not to walk away with 85-90 if you're typically a 17-20 hdcp I'd say
Great golf for a even better price
Can't say enough about the experience here. Course was fun and challenging on certain holes. Course was is good shape for so early in the season.
Pace of play was non issue.
Staff was great!
Highly recommended!
Interesting and quite challenging
Although there are spotty areas on some fairways, the course is in mostly good condition, and the greens are in good shape with lots of contours on several. Local knowledge helps a great deal since there are several blind shots, and it isn't always obvious where the hole is located until you get closer. Holes that cross the river can be especially challenging unless you're a long hitter as occasionally it's wiser to lay up. Most of the par 5s are uninspired, but some of the par 4s and 3s make up for that, with good variety. Overall, it's a pleasant experience with helpful staff and plenty of challenge from most golfers, depending on which tees you choose. Many tee boxes could use some work, however.
Rouge Park is the best of Detroit
This is a very fun course to play. It has a plenty of very challenging, very fun holes. Hole 8 is a great par 3 100 feet above the tee and 12 will give you quite a challenge. Most of the fairways are wide enough to allow you to miss a shot or two and still keep a decent score.
The course is in good condition. Greens are well maintained as well as the fairways. The tee boxes need a little help and need to be leveled. Rouge Park is the best course in Detroit without question and there is a driving range across the street to get a little practice in before you tee off.
I would also recommend their hamburgers.
rouge park
It is a Detroit staple and a fun place to golf. I've ben there a few times and I get better every time. So I will keep going.
Hidden Gem
The location of the course is a little offsetting. Once your on the course, you wouldn't believe your in the same area. Beautiful course, and well maintained. I loved the adversity of holes. Straight fairways, doglegs, raised greens, downhill shots, 3,4, and 5 pars. Not to mention lots of wildlife and scenic holes. Truly enjoyed 18 for a buck a hole booked on GN. Friendly staff even told me to play another 9 when i finished free of charge due to some rain, and not many customers on that day.

Have no early hot deals i like to i can only golf on the weekend early mornings have no hot deals love the Rouge park golf course
Nice course
Pace of play was ridiculously slow.... Almost a 6 hour round.
