Loved it
Great time playing here. Very fun track. Met the owner. Very friendly guy! Staff were very nice. Will definitely be back
Wanted to leave in the first 2 minutes
The woman at check in made me feel so unwanted and uncomfortable I should have left without playing
Course review
Nice course l would play it again. Very friendly staff
Over priced, and over booked
I purchased the round because it was a decent hot deal, $31.00 dollars for 18 with a cart on a Saturday is a decent deal for the course. When I arrived, the lady at the pro shop informed me that there would be a 20 dollar rider fee for my five year old son which was something I’ve never encountered before. I could see if he was a little older and had a bag but given that he’s 5 and just has a wedge and putter and just hits his ball when I do and then we pick up his and drop it at mine so really just experiencing golf, not really playing a round yet I felt that was an over charge. Then we get out to the first hole and it’s jammed packed because of an golf outing which happens however almost every course I’ve played in the past 30 years either blocks out tee times around the outing or has the other golfers play the back nine first to avoid the outing. After 4 hours of golf we had only made it through 13 holes and my five year old son was ready to go home since it’s not much waiting 10-20 minutes in between shots. When we got back to club house the lady asked how it went, I informed her that we only made it 13 holes and her response was “ ya it’s busy out there. No apologies or any attempt to make up for us losing 5 holes of golf that would have taken us another 2 hrs to play. I’m just disappointed in the course and I can say my son and I won’t be back. We’ll definitely be playing twin birch or Bellaire Centennial or any of the other courses around Bellaire and Shanty Creek. Definitely not worth 50 some odd dollars for I’d call a basic nothing fancy course.
Dissapointed
Course over all waz nice ,but I was no informed until arriving at the course that I had to do the back nine twice to do 18 holes.that waz a tad disappointing would have been nice to know in advance ,I wouldn't have drove so far.other than that course is nice and challenging.cart baths are pretty beat up and so hang on .lol.
Nice course
1st time playing - foursome and pace was good. The course is challenging, so you need to hit it straight. Greens were fair and putting was good. Will be back to play again.
Great course for the price
Really nice course, especially for the price. Really fast pace and the course is in great condition. Will definitely be back.
Excellent Value for a Great Course
I have played this course several times with having a cottage near by. I keep returning because I can not find a better course in the area for the price. Pace of play has always been good especially if you get out in the early morning. The staff is always friendly and greets you graciously.
The course appears to always be in great shape. As other have noted, Timber Wolf has some of the best greens in the area. I enjoy the seclusion of not seeing other golfer on other holes and the views are great. This hole is fun and challenging for the average golfer.
The only item I would see as draw back is their food and beverage service. Many times there is only one person working the counter and food/beverage. It take a little bit of time to get your order. I always call ahead before the turn so there are typically no issues.
I would recommend this course to anyone that enjoys a nice local course and a great value.
Great value and scenery
Timber Wolf is one of the best values in the area. It is a nice course with some elevation changes and tough greens. Sometimes conditions can be a touch on the rough side, but you won't find a better course for your money only 30 minutes from Traverse City.
Excellent Golf Course for Beginners as well as Seasoned golfers
Excellent Golf Course, I play twice a week in the morning. Things have changed drastically since Gordy has Been THe Owner, It Used To Be A Pasture, Now It Is One Of The Most Manicured courses In The area. Friendly Staff And Very Respectful When You Hit your Ball. I Became A member THis Summer And HAve Always Felt WElcomed. The FRont nine Is A Challenge, But THE back nine Will Give Anyone A Run For Their Money, No Matter WHat Skill LEvel You ARE. Sorry ABout My Typing, Have NOT Learned this skill Yet... Shot my best GAme Today, but still have a little room for improvement, but then don't we all..lol
MEDIOCRE at best
18 hole layout spread over 120 acres. Decent fairways and pretty nice greens gets my 3 star review. Tree-lined fairways keep the holes separated. Only problem is the trees are very bushy and cluttered, with no chance of recovering once you enter those areas. Major TURN-OFF.
The price is a bit steep ($25/9 holes) but given it was a sunday I guess its understandable. We were the only ones on the course around 10am which was a surprise, so pace of play was perfect. Short layout from white tees, play blues for more Driver friendly golf. Decent course, but if you want a bit nicer for the money, go play Grandview just 5 miles away.
The course isn't groomed very well
Four of us played this course and it was the worse course that we ever played. The grass was so long that you couldn't find your ball. As I was leaving I ran into the owner or a worker and he told me that because of the rain they couldn't cut the grass. It rained one day,Sept 8 ,2015 and grass doesn't grow that fast. I doubt that I would golf if they were all like this course.
