Metamora Golf & Country Club
About
Metamora Golf & Country Club is a championship course located in the northern suburbs of Detroit. The parkland layout has a beautifully rolling terrain that provides dramatic elevation changes throughout. The course has a balance of excellent shot values and interesting challenges that will appeal to players of all skill levels. The greens can be especially tricky since they are fast, undulating, and often putt downhill. There are numerous bunkers lurking around the greens and water hazards come into play on nearly every hole, 16 to be exact. Proper club selection and accurate shot placement will be generously rewarded but the golf course is not overly punishing if you're a little off your game. The signature hole is the par-5 third, which requires an approach shot to an island green.

Metamora course
Course was in good shape tee to greens. Greens were fast but true. What is going on with the Sand traps at this course??!! Most were rock hard not raked, and others were under construction??!! Only complaint was the traps. Get em fixed.
My new Favorite course
Great course, Great layout, Friendly people...... all in all a great golfing experience
Slow play
Great course but had to leave after about 13 holes with other groups because play was VERY slow and no rangers were out. Told the Pro shop and they were clueless.
up north feel
course is tuff but fair. very fast hilly greens. make sure you are below the hole! up north feel to it. was suppose to be private when first built lucky for us its now public.
Bunker is in maintaining
Green condition is ok. Little long grass compare last time I was played. Front 9 hole bunkers are covered by grass(maybe for repair fairways). Other than that, OK
Course layout is very interesting
Enjoyed our time on the course. Good test and big greens for your putting woes.
one of my favorites
This course has got everything you need for a challenging round of golf.
Great course
Tee time at 10am on a wednesday great pace of play ,tough course, super fast greens
Play smart
I love this course. I've only played it about a half dozen times but have enjoyed it every time. Understand that this is early season on a beautiful day. So the course was packed and pace of play was slow. The greens were lightening fast but very fun to play. The course was in great shape.
Worth the drive
Wanted a course away from West Bloomfield and we were very happy we made the trip. I will admit the front 9 were hard, but the back 9 were quite a bit easier. Definitely recommend it.
Quirky but Fun Track
Great course but there are definitely a few holes that I'd blow up and redo. Among them are 3, 16, 18 and not necessarily in that order. Despite the displeasure I experience when playing these holes (due to their micky mouse design, blind tee shots or stupid layup zones) I absolutely love the remainder of the course and the conditions are always top notch with great rolling greens. The day I played featured 35 mph gusts which made for a grind but because they did a nice job of leaf control and course maintenance I didn't have insult added to injury. The course was uncrowded so I was able to blaze around in about 3 hours on a cart that must have topped out at about 25 mph, which I love! I think golf is best played fast and if you finish too early, play some more! Which happily, wasn't a problem for the pro.
I would recommend this course to any golfer below a 14ish handicap as there are forced carries, (sometimes multiple on the same hole) and dramatic elevation changes and slopes on both 9s. You dont need to be long to play well here but you do need good course managemnt skills and patience.
I love the somewhat out-of-the-way location which reminds me of a trip up north.
The staff have always been great each and every visit!
Excellent course
The only thing that put a damper on the day was following a fivesome for a 5 hour round. Otherwise enjoyed a very nice course. Excellent Autumn shape.
Played but it rained
It rained and we didn't complete even first nine
Was expecting the rain check but got only for the back 9. Disappointing as we had a long drive to this course
Be Sure You Check Your Course Summary
Metamora is a little bit of a hike but well worth the effort. Really interesting and challenging course layout. Excellent greens...some of the best for public track in SE Mi. Lots of elevation change - course layout makes you think your way around the course...lots of risk/reward shots. One of the very best deals in SE Mi...
Only real downside is traps very thin - require a lot more sand (on day we played many traps had casual water several inches deep...it had rained heavily a couple days earlier but traps could use upgrading...
Employees are really friendly...take good care of you from the moment you arrive (history as a private course shows...)
Great Course
Very nice course with a great layout. Front 9 a little more challenging than the back.
challenging course
Course was in excellent shape. Greens ran very fast and true. Pro shop staff friendly. Completed round in 4 hours with foursome. Excellent deal through Golf Now.
Interesting
Although it rained the night before condition were good. Strange check in. Get a receipt and head out. No direction but found my way to starter who sent me off solo although I was paired up with a three some. Thank you. First time here will get your attention. Lots of blind shots. Greens!!!!! Stay below the hole or you can three putt easily Hit two greens short front and got penalized by the slope. Play slowed at 14 because the four in front of me caught the pack. Finished 18 as a five-some Will play here again now that I know the layout. Oh, and don't blink if you have never been here. Poor signage at Masters Blvd. Drove right by..
Top Notch Course
First time playing, and had a fantastic afternoon! Teamed with a greàt twosome - Dwayne and Jesse, thanks for a really fun round. A single joined us later - Ryan, it was great watching you just crush the ball off the tee.
Excellent conditions, super nice staff all around, and just a great facility in every regard. Pace was slow due to a group of 4 20+ hdcp playing from the blue tees, so a little Ranger presence may have moved them along. Still a great day at a top notch course.
Don't be discouraged playing the course once. The holes are challenging and play pretty long with lots of hazzards, but knowing where to hit will save you some strokes. Greens are tough but putt true- you just have to read them. Study and follow the course map on the scorecard. Also drive your cart up to see what you may be facing over that hill. Playing smart will also save you shots, and a lot of balls.
Definitely recommend and look forward to playing again. Super facility!!!
Metamora
Very challenging, picturesque, and well maintained. Looking forward to playing this again...
Superb consitions
The course was in tremendous shape. The greens are full of undulations making it extremely tough on and around the greens but the overall conditions of the course were phenomenal. The pristine fairways and rough made ball striking a breeze, which is important with such tough greens. Overall I felt like it was one of the nicer courses I've played this summer. Really hope to get back bed to the season is over.
