Great course--Dont let the price fool you
We booked a Friday afternoon tee time on line for two golfers ($40.00 for both including the cart) and were just looking for a change of pace on a Friday afternoon. I was not expecting a lot, but had a wonderful time on a great course. The first hole is nothing to write about, but after that you encounter a variety of terrain, uphill, downhill shots on holes which are tight in some places and wide open in others. I really enjoyed my round and my buddy and I will certainly be back.
We played on June 22 and the course was in really nice condition and the pro shop and ranger could not have been nicer.
Farm course
Course is rough. Tee boxes not well maintained. Fairways grass is too long. Greens had a lot of debris on them. Some holes ok and others not.
Very User Friendly
Course generally is in much better condition, but I think the rain has hampered the conditioning. I will give them a pass on it. It still is in better conditions than most courses in this price range. It's a shot-makers course. Make shots and you will score, don't make them and pay the price. The course has a little bit of everything. I have played it a number of times over the years and always enjoy it.
Great course
This course looks simple but it will fool you. Ball placement is everything.
I played a day after heavy rain so there were a number of spots puddled and soggy but not the courses fault. Overall it is a decent course worth the price and usually has openings when most others don't. Course layout makes no sense when 13 and 18 are involved and if it's your first time you can easily get lost finding 11, 12 , 13, 18 so layout gets a hit. But value and the course are very nice,
DOWNING FARM
COURSE NAVIGATION AWKWARD AT TEE 11,
GROUNDS PRETTY MUDDY AND FALL LEAVES ARE HINDERING BEST PLAY.I still would rate it with a 3 star. Would return because it was a good value.
good value
nice quiet course for a practice round, not the greatest but you get what you pay for. Very inexpensive with friendly staff.
Old reliable
Cheap, quick, and fun round. Scenery and upkeep isn't going to blow you away, but there's plenty of good things about this course. Interesting layouts, tough greens, and did I mention its cheap and a 2-2.5 hour round?
Not well maintained
The course was empty so pace of play was nice. The layout is very confusing, some tee box signs were broke and couldn't be read. Around one turn it appears someone has dumped old oil drums and a bath tub off the cart path. If it was cheaper I may return just to get out and hit 18 to work on a specific part of my game.
Restaurant was closed, even after I called to make sure we could grab a bite to eat before we drove out there. Staff was still really friendly and easy going.
great Value
This is a biased opinion because i love this place and have gone here for many years as well as my family. my sons first round on a " real course " was here. its easy but its fun, usually moves along pretty well and is very peaceful and secluded. The staff here is always very friendly and helpful. i would recommend this course to anyone.
Incredible Bang for Your Buck!
Was it the best course I've, played? No. Was it incredibly well groomed? No. But the quality of the course for what I paid was well worth my time and money. I will definitely be visiting this course again and frequently!
Great course to get out and play
The front and back or 2 different worlds. Not a bad thing. Front was like an old Michigan course and little tight but fun. Back was a little more open and even more fun. Greens where in great shape. I enjoyed the course, a good place for an after work round.
But don't tell anyone so it stays this way. Enjoy
Cheap, decent course
This may not be the best course on the planet with unmanicured bunkers and some other signs of age, but it gets the job done. Great for those learning especially for the price.
Fun course
I have played Downing Farms numerous times, it's a fun course with some challenging holes. The staff is great, never have an issue getting a tee time. Course was in real good shape when we played.
