DOWNING FARM
COURSE NAVIGATION AWKWARD AT TEE 11,
GROUNDS PRETTY MUDDY AND FALL LEAVES ARE HINDERING BEST PLAY.I still would rate it with a 3 star. Would return because it was a good value.
good value
nice quiet course for a practice round, not the greatest but you get what you pay for. Very inexpensive with friendly staff.
Old reliable
Cheap, quick, and fun round. Scenery and upkeep isn't going to blow you away, but there's plenty of good things about this course. Interesting layouts, tough greens, and did I mention its cheap and a 2-2.5 hour round?
Not well maintained
The course was empty so pace of play was nice. The layout is very confusing, some tee box signs were broke and couldn't be read. Around one turn it appears someone has dumped old oil drums and a bath tub off the cart path. If it was cheaper I may return just to get out and hit 18 to work on a specific part of my game.
Restaurant was closed, even after I called to make sure we could grab a bite to eat before we drove out there. Staff was still really friendly and easy going.
great Value
This is a biased opinion because i love this place and have gone here for many years as well as my family. my sons first round on a " real course " was here. its easy but its fun, usually moves along pretty well and is very peaceful and secluded. The staff here is always very friendly and helpful. i would recommend this course to anyone.
Incredible Bang for Your Buck!
Was it the best course I've, played? No. Was it incredibly well groomed? No. But the quality of the course for what I paid was well worth my time and money. I will definitely be visiting this course again and frequently!
Great course to get out and play
The front and back or 2 different worlds. Not a bad thing. Front was like an old Michigan course and little tight but fun. Back was a little more open and even more fun. Greens where in great shape. I enjoyed the course, a good place for an after work round.
But don't tell anyone so it stays this way. Enjoy
Cheap, decent course
This may not be the best course on the planet with unmanicured bunkers and some other signs of age, but it gets the job done. Great for those learning especially for the price.
Fun course
I have played Downing Farms numerous times, it's a fun course with some challenging holes. The staff is great, never have an issue getting a tee time. Course was in real good shape when we played.
Poor Conditions
Morning dew is not removed from greens. No sand in sand traps. Tee boxes are in rough shape
Get what you pay for
Downing is the course I have played most, being it's location is very close to home.
This course is very convenient, almost never have I encountered a day where I couldn't book a tee time short notice.
The rates are very fair, many times you can get a "hot deal" available for this course. That being said, you get what you pay for, so dont expect to show up to a particularly well kept course. For beginner golfers like myself, this course is great and should be taken advantage of by anyone who lives in the area.
This is by no means the easiest course around, you will encounter many trees and heavily wooded areas on both sides of fairways. This course has many holes that force you to make decisions regarding course management. The bunkers are "free drop" due to their lack of quality, there has been signs claiming they are under repair, but have been up all year with no sign of urgency to make them better. Decent amount of water hazards come into play.
Overall, this is a great course if your short on cash and want to play a real course that offers par 4 and 5's rather than going to play a par 3 course. No where near a favorite of mine, but I know I will play here many times before this season ends.
Best value
Nice comfy course, not to hard but technical in places, good history in the area, excellent staff in the clubhouse, nice low pressure place.
Great course for the price.
This isn't Palm Springs, it's a course that needs some work. However, you can't beat the value. Great course for beginning to intermediate golfers.
Thanks for the 4-star review eunmie! We are always trying to encourage our team to keep up the good work and improve where needed so please let us know if there was anything that stuck out while you were here. Thanks for playing and we hope you return soon.
Average Course for Great Price
Downing is my favorite course in the area. With 2 different 9s. The front being tighter and lines with trees vs the back which is more open but hillier. Course is im decent shape. Tees and fairways mowed well. Greens suffer from major pitch marks. But I consider that more of a fault on the golfers than the course. Also some minor green issues but reseeding would fix that. All bunkers are under repair and free drops as they are being replaced and moved.
Overall for the price I can't complain. Easy enough for beginners to not feel overwhelmed while still having tricky shots and slopes greens to keep you honest.
Thanks for the 5-star review u7931297! We are happy to hear we are your favorite. We are working hard to improve course conditions every day. Thanks for playing and we hope you return soon.
Laid Back Course
We have golfed this course more than once and are noticing improvements as the season progresses. Sand traps should either be fixed or filled in. The course layout is confusing and could use directional signage (or better signage) to next hole.
This course has a bar and a nice room to sit and eat standard bar food.
We would not hesitate to continue golfing here.
Thanks for the 4-star review u215570397! Glad you are seeing the improvements because we are working on it. Improved signage on the course is on the list of todos. We do have a course map on the back of every scorecard, hope this helps for next time. Thanks for playing and we hope you return soon.

Thanks for the 4-star review taylor55! We are for sure not Palm Springs and are continuing to put the TLC into the course it needs. Thanks for playing and we hope you return soon.
