Timber Trace Golf Club
About
Timber Trace Golf Club sprawls across the rolling countryside that surrounds Lake Wallaby in lower Michigan. The location seems rather remote, giving the course an isolated feel, but the round is well worth the trip. The layout is routed through tall pines and the fairways effortlessly flow across the gently rolling hills. The wooded terrain is one of the course's major draws. Golfers from as far as the metro Detroit area come to enjoy this scenic round. The layout has an interesting mix of holes that offer plenty of variety. There are some tricky spots but you won't come across any carries over wetlands or ponds. Golfers will face long and challenging back-to-back par 5s starting with the 15th. This duo has the potential to ruin your score.

Always a good day out there
Challenging with a lot of great golf holes. It's a little bit of a hike from the detroit area, but make the enjoyable ride in the country part of the experience. The course is worth the drive. Staff is very friendly and offers a very good value. I have played this course quite a few times over the years. The condition has pretty much stayed consistant. My only complaint is Pace of play is 4.5 hours minimum. Didn't see a ranger last time out and it was 5 hours. On the other hand, Without starter and ranger, this helps them keep the cost down.
This course is difficult in wrong way
They need work on those long bushes, if you hit 10 yards off fairway you get into these nasty bushes you can't never find the ball. And worst part is each hole is located through the residential neigberhoods, you are crossing the streets too many times. Hole #13 you need drive cart more than 10 min to get there. I am not playing there anymore.
its a little out of the way for me.
Although I like the course the hour drive will probably determine if I want to play this course again. It was I pretty good shape except for the bunkers which are not being maintained very well .... no rakes for the players. Collapsed and undefined edges and the sand is mixed with dirt and rocks. Greens were in pretty good shape despite the summer heat.
Beautiful cource with many amazing views.
Excellent course with many challenging holes. Friendly staff and golfers.
Nice course
Nice course. My firnd raved about it and I'm not sure why he like it soo much. I mean its nice but not as pretty as others imo but still real nice. 20 minute drive between 12 and 13 kindve excessive. People were pretty nice though as me being a single most people let me play through. I would return with a good deal on golf now.
Loved its playability.
The fairways are huge, but the challenge is in hitting the tight greens.
I thought the course was in great shape.
Really Nice Golf Experience
This is course with several sets of tees that make it range from moderate to challenging depending on the tees. It has wide fairways and large greens which are very well maintained. The terrain has good elevation changes and location is pretty secluded. It is an excellent golf course for the money.
Beautiful Course to play
There are 5 different tee boxes on this course. Great for all different range of golfers. The fairways and greens are in great shape. The rough is thick and challenging, so stay in the fairway. The only down side to this course are the rocks in the bunkers. Clean those out and this is a 5 star golf course. The staff inside the clubhouse are very friendly.
Great course for the money
Went online golfnow and paid $18.00 on hot deal, one of the best courses for under $20 anywhere in Michigan. Staff very friendly, course was in excellent condition and can be very challenging I depending on what tee box you use. Many holes had access to cold water, great for hot day.
The course is wide open but trouble is there. Greens are great
Good greens, many traps, but wide open fairways. The course has a section that is a 10 minute drive to the 13th hole. Funny thing, we had a tree that fell across the path. Had to wait for a tractor to pull it away.
Great rates for a great golf course
I booked through golfnow.com and the rates and course were well worth the 45 minute drive. I will will continue to play this course throughout the season because it is very well taken care of, plays just over 7000 yds from the tips, and is the most affordable course of its kind in the area.
Great Experience
Overall - very good - and I've played this course a number of times with same reaction. Well maintained course, good pricing, friendly staff.
Only reason I did not give 5 stars on the rating - is I'm not a fan of the two long cart rides between holes on the back nine.
A diamond in the rough.
Well worth the drive out to Pinckney. Course was in fantastic shape, only $42 for seniors and $44 for regulars in the morning on the weekends. There is a lot of trouble, but the fairways are generous. Big misses off the tee will find woods or heather, but again, fairly forgiving, with plenty of scoring holes! Couldn't be happier after playing.
Slow play
Timber Trace has always been a favorite. Unfortunately, we had the longest round ever experienced (just over 5 hours). Probably had something to due with no starter or rangers seen throughout the round. Also noticed that the maintenance seemed to be a little lacking. Greens had not been mowed and were slower than normal. Cart paths are showing age, especially the route past Lake Linden. Hope these issues don't become the norm. On the plus side we had the best rate ever from GolfNow.com.
Great day of golf
Course was in great shape. Timber Trace is on a beautiful piece of land. Plenty of bunkers to keep it interesting.
Greens were in excellent condition. I will return to this course often in the future.
Nice course. played it before. It just has lost a little.the traps are rock hard.
The last time I played the traps were in great shape, but not now. The greens are slower, but the course has remained the same and beautiful. They need to do some upkeeping.Lots of little stones on the greens. Please don't let this go. It could be a top of line course. It used to be five years ago.
Course was in excellent condition.
Great value for the money. Course was in excellent shape, however, cart paths are in poor conditions. Staff was pleasant and cordial and very accommodative for a single player.
Another one of my favorites
Worth the drive to Pinkney. Great course with plenty of teeing options for all levels. Greens rolled great and the overall condition would rival most private clubs. Great value thru golfnow.com
Nice track
Not a huge fan of courses that run through subdivisions, basically because that means you can't walk them. The 5 minute cart ride between 12-13, and again between 16-17 kills any hopes of ever being able to walk this place. Most of the houses are far enough off the course and hidden in the trees that they don't take away from the overall natural beauty. Difficulty level is moderate (I played gold tees). Lot's of tree lined fairways, mostly straight, but with a fair amout of landing area. The swale surrounding the fairways will collect radically errant tee shots, which I could see slowing play (i was first off, so pace of play was not an issue). A fair amount of bunkering around the course will collect many shots too. Bunkers were in decent condition, though far from great. Greens were in good condition, roll well, and average speed. Overall, a visually pleasing, semi-rolling layout, that is fun to play. I would recommend, though there are many around I like better.
