Timber Trace Golf Club
About
Timber Trace Golf Club sprawls across the rolling countryside that surrounds Lake Wallaby in lower Michigan. The location seems rather remote, giving the course an isolated feel, but the round is well worth the trip. The layout is routed through tall pines and the fairways effortlessly flow across the gently rolling hills. The wooded terrain is one of the course's major draws. Golfers from as far as the metro Detroit area come to enjoy this scenic round. The layout has an interesting mix of holes that offer plenty of variety. There are some tricky spots but you won't come across any carries over wetlands or ponds. Golfers will face long and challenging back-to-back par 5s starting with the 15th. This duo has the potential to ruin your score.

Great experience
I don't usually review courses. I really liked this one from the time I walked in the door to walking off the 18th green. Will definetly be back .
Hard and Fast
The layout was impeccable. Winding through large home community and woods. You travel quite a bit on residential roads. And of course there is the infamous five minute cart ride to number 13. The greens were in great shape, rolled and true, but hard. Hit one shot into a par three and the ball bounced higher than the flagstick. Played early on a Tuesday morning. Staff was a bit frenzied with a large group coming in later that morning. I was speaking with some other golfers near the first tee and an employee yelled at us for trying to go out as a 3-some (which we were not). The course had some fairway scars in the landing zones and burned out sections along some of the fairways. I would play it again if I lived in the Brighton area, but not sure I would do the 1 1/2 hr drive to play there again.
Excellent for the price
Outstanding price. Course was in above ave condition considering the time of year in MI. It sas windy sk course played like a links course. It rain all day the day before but the course drained relatively well. A bit out of the way but that made for the course to be uncrowded which I liked.
Terrible Traps
Condition not the best, poor trap maintenance. Pin placements awful
Great golf Course
This is one of the best courses I have ever played. If not the best this year and I played a lot of courses.Worth every dollar and then some. Will be back next year and a lot more often
Nice layout. Great balanced experience
Very scenic and well-kept. A great balance between challenge and playability. Wide fairways are offset by challenging bunker placements and contoured greens. Overall great course. Back 9 showcases a 5-minute cart ride around a lake with 2 thoroughly enjoyable par 5's back-to-back.
Very Nice Course...but
Played late in the year but there were no tee box markers, takes for the sand traps and the traps were not raked at all. Overall, this is a very nice course.
Hidden Gem
I really enjoyed this course. The fairways are wide and fair but with challenges. The are a couple of risk/reward par 4 that are drivable. The greens while not fast where in good condition. Very picturesque course. The bunkers had quite a few stones which was the only bad thing I could say about this course, I will definitely return.
Very Friendly
The course was beautiful. There were some houses but typically well off the course. The fairways were open and Brent grass. There were a lot of divot marks. The course did not supply sand which was my only complaint. I would certainly go back even though it was an hour drive for me.
Grounds Crew Needs Help
Most the tee boxes didn't have the tee makers in place. If they were to be found all the different tee boxes (colors) were piled together. Course was in rough shape. I don't think a golfer or grounds crew fixed a single divot in the fairways all season.
Cart was in rough shape. We didn't notice our bumper was dragging until we were away from the pro shop.
Not a single time I have golfed here has the staff seemed friendly at all. Most seem like they hate their job there.
There are too many courses in the area to choose to here.
One of my favorite courses!
Course is always in good shape, Staff always nice. Very pretty course. We drive an hour to come here.
One of My Favorite Courses
This track has tons of character & is very fun to play. The fairways are nice & wide, but too far left or right & you'll pay the price. I have to play this track at least once a year.
Get there Early!
It is worth the drive to Timber Trace. The course is enjoyable and aside from some mediocre greens it was a great value. However, after telling me I was paired up, the pro shop attendant made no effort to inform me of who I was paired up with, which cart they had taken, or how many players I was paired up with. Furthermore, he decided to send the group off early without notifying me and made me walk to the first tee in order to get on a cart with a stranger. No real starter at the first tee either. This could be improved. Not a great way to start a round. I arrived 20min before my scheduled tee time, I would recommend arriving earlier to avoid such conflicts..
very good course
Excellent greens, challenging layout. Guarded fairways and greens make shot selection important. Well maintained greens and fairways too! I'm a fan of Timber Trace
Great conditions.
My partner and I got off early, so never had a delay. Conditions were excellent, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Will certainly put this course on our list to play several times this year. Highly recommend it to others. Fun course.
One of my favorites
Selfishly, I am glad more people don't know about how great this place is. One of my favorites.
Nice course, good challenge
The course was in really good shape for early October. The greens were still decently fast. My only complaint was the carts didn't have windshields on them. When it's 50 and windy, the windshield would have helped haha.
Never disappointed
Great track! Greens have been really good this year. Staff is really good no nonsense type of people. Can't stand it when you play somewhere and the staff acts uppity or like your at Augusta. Not here good group of guys.
great price but bad pace
We got a special price, but the pace was slow , slow , and slower. To bad I realy like this course, the greens are geting real beat up and the sand traps are hard and unraked. But it's that time of year, make the money. The day was sunny and warm.
up north feel
always enjoy playing here
course is in good condiditon
