Brae Burn Golf Club in Plymouth has a traditional layout with a landscape that ranges from gently rolling to wildly undulating. On most holes, elevated tees play to elevated greens. The large, undulating greens usually slope back to front. Golfers will encounter water on 15 holes and the fairways are lined with mature trees. The bunkering is sparse but strategically placed and there are also rough-enhanced moguls protecting the greens, a unique feature at Brae Burn. One tip if it is your first time on the golf course is to study the course diagram beforehand since there are many hidden ponds that come into play on the fairways and greensides. The course's most famous hole is the par-5 13th, nicknamed "The Monster" since it measures a devilish 666 yards. This tricky hole double doglegs to the left and then back towards the right.

Unprofessional

They weren’t open when I showed up and since I booked it through a “hot deal” I had already played for a round that I couldn’t even play. Will not try to play here again and this experience has made me rethink the use of the gold nkw system.

Horrible

Course was horrible, over priced, and we were pushed to play fast because of an outing that teed off an hour after us . Over grown rough, doesn’t even look like they make an attempt to keep the course in shape .

Don’t waste your time

It had been a few since since I played here so I figured I would give it a shot considering the price at the time. To kick things off they had zero range balls so of course there would be no warmup. The fairways were hard as a rock and in very bad shape. You couldn’t tell the difference from the rough and fairways in a lot of places. That’s assuming that you didn’t hit it into one of the giant patches of dirt and mud that littered almost every fairway. The greens were decent. Pitch marks all over them but of course that responsibility also lies on the player. Somewhat challenging track if you play from the tips. A double dog leg 660 yard Par 5 and a couple of Par 3s north of 200 yards. Overall I would not recommend this course unless management or ownership really gets it together and cleans it up.

Best shape ever

I’ve always thought this was a great property that needed better care. This was the best shape I’ve ever seen this course in. The greens ran fast and true. The fairways were in better shape than I ever remember. There’s definitely room for improvement but I’m far more likely to return after his visit.

Could’ve been better

I’ve played this course a few times and it’s definitely a challenge for a mid to high handicap golfer like myself. The one downfall was that there was no Ranger to ensure that certain groups were following golf etiquette. 18 holes typically takes me between 2.5-3 hours by myself, but I was unfortunately stuck behind a foursome of golfers that had obviously never been taught about pace of play or general acceptable golf behavior. What should’ve been a fairly quick and easy morning on the links turned into nearly 6 hours of being stuck behind a group of shirtless middle-aged men that proceeded to drive ball after ball into the wood line, grab 2 to 3 more balls each, and send those balls to the same fate. By hole 15, I had had enough and called it a day, since this had been going on since hole 4. Please...assign a Ranger to ensure pace of play is adequate.

Brae Burn

Very nice experience overall. Nice variety of terrain and elevations. Fairways are in terrific shape.

The course was cart path only when I played, due to rain... which also slowed the greens down... but that is uncontrollable.

Nice experience at a very fair price! I will definitely play there again.

Tough course at a good price

Brae Burn is a nice little hidden gem in Plymouth. The course isn't particularly long or difficult (aside from the Monster Par 5), but there are lots of challenging greens that keep you on your toes—lots of tiers, slopes and false fronts that keep you from getting too comfortable out there no matter how good you're hitting your tee shots/irons.
