Brentwood Golf Club & Banquet Center
About
Brentwood Golf & Banquet Center in White Lake is conveniently less than an hour from downtown Detroit. The 18-hole layout has two distinctly different designs. The front nine is a wooded trail design with homes lining the fairways while the back nine has a more open, classic Scottish-links layout with fewer trees. There are nearly 40 bunkers situated along the greens and fairways and a variety of marshes, wetlands, and ponds come into play on 13 holes. To make the golf course even more challenging, the strategically placed mounding provides a number of tricky uneven lies from all angles and on nearly every hole. Brentwood's par-5 16th is a particularly memorable hole, featuring a grass hill that is directly in front of the green, almost completely blocking the view of the putting surface on the approach.

Not a 4-star course
This course is very strange and definitely not worth a 4-star rating compared to other courses in the same price range
- Tee boxes are really torn up. Many divots, dry spots, and uneven areas
- greens are not consistent and does not roll true. Also not very challenging
- front 9 is very short. Surprising back 9 feels like a real course. If all 18 was lay out like the back 9 then
Frustrating round
First of all the staff is not helpful and gave me a broken range finder to use. There were no yard markers on the course because the grounds crew removed them for some reason. The tee boxes were destroyed. Ball marks on all the greens. Beer cans left at the tee boxes. Worth $20 a round.
Surprised and impressed
Course was in great condition. Couldn’t get a ball to stick on a green all day. They were firm and fast, some of the best I’ve played so far this year. Course seemed to play a lot shorter then expected from the backs. The tightness of most of the holes makes i challenging. If you don’t like to pull out your driver definitely a course you can easily get around without one. Overall fun course with a good layout.
Take some pride
Garbage, mostly beer cans, laying all over the course. Tee boxes looked like a mortar field. No beer cart on a very busy Saturday.
This place has some real potential with some basic maintenance and management. Greens were in great condition- by far the best feature of course. Sister course Beacon Hill is in much better shape:
Lovely Enjoyable Course
First time playing here and we absolutely loved the front nine; so woodsy and secluded. You can tell it was phase one of this golf course with the mature trees and landscaping. Definitely challenging for us novices and just beautiful. The back nine seemed to be designed more recently and was definitely more open with spaces and the mature trees few and far between, but having said that, you didn't feel like the holes were wedged too tight. Great cart paths, but the gravel section could use a bit of grading to smooth them out and my only complaint (mild and didn't deter from pace of game) was that the signage could have been a bit better.
