Brentwood Golf Club & Banquet Center
About
Brentwood Golf & Banquet Center in White Lake is conveniently less than an hour from downtown Detroit. The 18-hole layout has two distinctly different designs. The front nine is a wooded trail design with homes lining the fairways while the back nine has a more open, classic Scottish-links layout with fewer trees. There are nearly 40 bunkers situated along the greens and fairways and a variety of marshes, wetlands, and ponds come into play on 13 holes. To make the golf course even more challenging, the strategically placed mounding provides a number of tricky uneven lies from all angles and on nearly every hole. Brentwood's par-5 16th is a particularly memorable hole, featuring a grass hill that is directly in front of the green, almost completely blocking the view of the putting surface on the approach.

More time management
Course fee is reasonable and course condition was so good. But my tee time was delay about 20 minutes and it took 5.5 hrs for 18 holes. I guess it was due to poor skilled players... Patrol should be enhanced more.
brentwood
We played brentwood on a sunday and the pace of play was great. The course was in good shape and the back opens up into a links-style track. It was quite pretty back there. Be sure to read thescore card to make sure you are aware of where ponds are.
good course...good price
This course was in great shape
The fairways and greens were taken care of and most important was the smoothness of the fairways. So weather it was just driving the cart or your ball rolling it was smooth.
Great place for a good time
Some challenges along the way but overall a great fun place to play golf
Decent course / good value
Decent course. A bit quirky... Good value for the money. If they raise rates above $35 or so I would stay away.
early spring review
for early spring very good course conditions sand trap very nice condition soft sand
Vey nice course
The staff is very friendly and this is a very nice course in great condition.
All four of us enjoyed our round of golf
Considering that it was an October day, we weren't troubled by lots of leaves. The wide fairways were helpful in staying out of trouble. Many holes are fairly short from the front tees, so it was a great way to practice ones short game.
Good Fall Golf
Went there with a friend of mine. He is a new golfer. I play here regularly in outings, etc. Course was in good shape and played well.
Well groomed and very challenging
For the money its a great value. You'd think your playing a private course. Challenging greens and beautiful fairways. Even the rough is in good shape.
Great value high end course.
This was truly a great value. Arnold Palmer design. I like the two course variety, one wooded and wet. the other open links, traps and moguls. There are some big dog leg holes in both directions. I do not particular favor courses that run throughout residential neighborhoods and have distances to the next tee greater than some par threes. The greens are very challenging. This is however a high end golf course that I paid very little to golf. It was an enjoyable, relaxing experience. I was a little surprised with some maintenance issues. The greens need attention. #3 particularly bad, but none are what you would expect from a course like this, and golfers please repair your ball marks! The Metro Park course in the area has far better greens. Lastly, the ball washer on tee # one was broke, the golf cart seat was torn and some tee markers were missing.
Tight front, wide open back.
Can't, or shouldn't, really use the driver on the front. The back is more open with longer holes allowing you to use the driver 4 or 5 times. The front is strategic, with fairway metals or irons off of every tee, leaving short to mid irons into the greens. Even the par fives are reachable with well placed tee shots and long irons or fairway metals into the greens on the front. The greens are true, although some are incredibly tough, like #6... I usually enjoy this course.
Challenging course; very good value; course needs work though.
We really enjoy the course at Brentwood but were surprised to see that two or three of the greens were in very poor condition (burnt out almost; #3 was an example). Also, there were typically five to 10 major unrepaired ball marks (recent in most cases) on nearly every green which, of course, is more of a comment about the players than the maintenance staff. Several tee boxes (17 for example), were also in very poor condition. To improve the course condition significantly, I would recommend three things: 1) repair/replace the burnt out greens and turf on the chewed up tee boxes; 2) put sand boxes out on the par three tee boxes and ask players to fill their divots; and, 3) put positive, educational signs in the pro shop and throughout the course encouraging players to properly fix ball marks on green. Thanks very much.
a lot harder than it looks...
The staff were very friendly, the course was in pristine condition. The rough was, well, rough. My only complaint is that they do not have rangers out and it took us about 1-1/2 hours longer than it should have. We were behind people who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a baseball bat and they ignored us from hole #3. A friendly ranger could have taken care of all of that.
good value, not crowded, the greens are challenging
it is not a long course but challenging. The only issue is the back tees (green) are not maintained well. They are not flat and there are overhanging branches in front of the tees that give you a bad stance to start the holes with. Not all of them, just a few.
Local Gem
Very nice track in the Commerce White Lake area. I will play this course again.
Nice course, slow play
Nice course, slow play. Nice people in the pro shop. Good food at the grill. I would go back here, but would try to hit a day/time when play might be faster.
Great Course
This course plays just under 6500 yrds from the TIPS and about 6150 from the next set of tees but trust me the TIPS play plenty tough at that yardage, The greens were a little slow but not bad at all and have plenty of undulations so knowing the pin placement is key.
Overall it plays fair but tough and requires good course management and strong mental discipline! Played a little slow due to Fathers Day but that was expected.
Nice
I usually go to Beacon Hills GC which has the same maintenance with Brent Wood, so I tried this course. Was nice for all hours for playing. I will go there again.
