League night Twilight
Good shape but our fault for booking twilight after leagues. Was slow but ranger found plus an opening on the back nine mid round.
This course shouldn't be that difficult, but...
... it surprises you. It's short, just over 6000 yards from the white tees I played. But it has some teeth to it. The fairways are narrow, likely to cut costs because there's room for them to be wider on many holes. But the rough wasn't that punitive if you just missed a fairway. I was fortunate to avoid bunkers so I don't know how they played, but they looked decent. Certainly plenty of rakes, which is appreciated.
The fairways and tees were in good shape. Had no issues with them at all. There were a few rough places on the course, especially in the lower areas. But considering the very wet spring, I actually expected worse. The defense of the course are the greens. They're small, very undulating, and a bit tricky. But they rolled true, even with them being a bit sandy. That was more noticeable because of playing early and them being damp. You do not want to be above the hole, which is easier said than done.
I can't speak to the pace of play. I had the first tee time on a beautiful, cool morning. The carts are stored outside, but were wiped down so I didn't get wet. When I parked at the end of the round, it was already being sprayed clean for use later before I got back to the car. The staff I encountered were outstanding. Warm and welcoming.
One more thing I noticed. The cart paths were all gravel, and they were nicer than a lot of the ones in the area that are paved. Very few ruts or potholes. They were so good I used them and crossed the fairways at 90 degrees because... well, you should. They made that decision easier.
Well done to the staff and crew at Rolling Meadows. It was an enjoyable day.
Great people
Such a friendly staff. The course has finished some maintenance on the course and the course was in great shape. Will play again.
Pleasantly surprised!
Played this course for the first time…course was in very good condition! Pace of play was excellent, never waited on the tee box. It isn’t the most challenging course, but will appeal to a wide variety of golfers. Highly recommend!
Hidden gem
Nice course, well maintained and in great condition. The greens are tough as they are slightly domed and 2 put is a great score. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. Also the banquet facilities look very nice.
Greens add challenge to this course
Overall the course is in great shape; however hole 8 is under construction. Back 9 is longer than the front 9 and fairways are narrower.. The crowned greens are fast.
Packed 9
The course was lovely and the weather was even better, however they overpacked the course with tee times for the first 9. There would be at point two groups in front of us waiting to tee off, forming a literal queue to wait to play the course. Very frustrating because you’d have people waiting behind you but you can’t play any faster because of the groups in front of you. Would have enjoyed it better with the tee times spaced out so I wouldn’t have spent half of my day waiting to golf. Otherwise it was a nice course and good amenities.
Great Golf
I always enjoy playing this course, it is challenging but fun. I wish that I lived closer.
Great conditions
Great staff, the greens are amazing, fairways very decent, rough is not too punishing. Bunkers have seen better days but sand is really expensive these days so can’t blame them. Maybe they could remove the sand in some and keep a few with better quality sand.
My main concern is that it used to be a very affordable place with a great value for money. But they’ve increased their prices by $10 like all the other courses this year… and $10 more on $40 is not the same as $10 more on $80… So the value proposition has decreased but they remain some of the most affordable place in the area…
