Pleasantly surprised!
Played this course for the first time…course was in very good condition! Pace of play was excellent, never waited on the tee box. It isn’t the most challenging course, but will appeal to a wide variety of golfers. Highly recommend!
Hidden gem
Nice course, well maintained and in great condition. The greens are tough as they are slightly domed and 2 put is a great score. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. Also the banquet facilities look very nice.
Greens add challenge to this course
Overall the course is in great shape; however hole 8 is under construction. Back 9 is longer than the front 9 and fairways are narrower.. The crowned greens are fast.
Packed 9
The course was lovely and the weather was even better, however they overpacked the course with tee times for the first 9. There would be at point two groups in front of us waiting to tee off, forming a literal queue to wait to play the course. Very frustrating because you’d have people waiting behind you but you can’t play any faster because of the groups in front of you. Would have enjoyed it better with the tee times spaced out so I wouldn’t have spent half of my day waiting to golf. Otherwise it was a nice course and good amenities.
Great Golf
I always enjoy playing this course, it is challenging but fun. I wish that I lived closer.
Great conditions
Great staff, the greens are amazing, fairways very decent, rough is not too punishing. Bunkers have seen better days but sand is really expensive these days so can’t blame them. Maybe they could remove the sand in some and keep a few with better quality sand.
My main concern is that it used to be a very affordable place with a great value for money. But they’ve increased their prices by $10 like all the other courses this year… and $10 more on $40 is not the same as $10 more on $80… So the value proposition has decreased but they remain some of the most affordable place in the area…
Fast play!
We were a twosome and went off as soon as we arrived. Pace of play was fast and we had an enjoyable day. Course is forgiving with little need to layup. Greens a bit quick. Had lunch at the turn. Will be back again!
3 hours
The weather was beautiful, course in great shape but 9 holes took nearly 3 hours.
Exact course I was looking for!
I don't get out more than a couple times a year and my son, new to the game would be on a course for just his second time. So I wanted an uncrowded, simple, straight forward course.
I know folks are very concerned about pace of play and I didn't want to be a burden on folks so I really appreciate a course that is less crowded and would be suitable for my son to feel comfortable.
Rolling Meadows nailed it. Wide open fairways, trees hug the outside of the course and give a nice few but are generally out of the way. There are some hazards like the interior small groups of trees, a few bunkers and the back nine littered with ponds, but all of these give the course character, visual appeal and some challenge without frustrating higher handicappers. The geese on 12 were a handful though! :)
If I could wave a magic wand, the greens could be softer - even after a good morning rain shower they were very solid and chipping on was rough.
Add'l pros: nice carts, good clubhouse, driving range (leave your drive in the bag - it's a little short), and of course friendly staff.
Best hole? 14. Par 4 for the men 5 for the women. So for the men, getting to the dogleg to take a shot at the green will be tricky and a giant willow blocks any chance at cutting the corner. Even with a pretty decent drive I had to layup. Golf is about choices and this one brings all of that.
