Nice Course
This is a halfway local course to me - need to drive about 20-25 mins to get here. As far as public courses go, its probably the best if not top 3. I don't mind playing out of most of the bunkers as it is mostly sand. There were a couple that looked pretty gravely, but less of those than nice ones. Fairways, tee boxes and greens were in fantastic shape (on par with private courses in the area). The area is set up nicely to have nice spot to hangout before or after a round, but I feel they need to start rejuvenating that space a bit.
Pace of play was the only negative aspect I have, but you will have that if players are not adhering to pace of play etiquette - not totally on the course. I had a "hot deal" from golf now, otherwise I feel it would have been a little expensive.
Outstanding course conditions
Had to go to Jefferson City and made a side trip to play Tanglewood as a single. I was pleasantly surprised with the outstanding conditions for a course in the middle of nowhere!
The thing that stood out was how good the greens were. They were very smooth and rolled great. The fairways were solid and lush but a few had some bare and thin spots. Rough was thick and difficult to play out of to advance your ball. While the tee boxes were mostly in good shape, a number of them were uneven and even lumpy. Only hit into one bunker but the sand was really like tiny dark red/brown pebbles instead of grains of sand.
A couple of forced carries but nothing too drastic. The tee shot on No. 4 was a pretty big carry from the white tees and I barely cleared the small lake as I toed my driver on that shot. Holes 12 and 17 go around the same lake and is in play.
It was crazy hot and humid but the course was still packed. Got thru the first five holes but then it bogged down. Was pretty slow and had to wait a short while on most shots after that. Clubhouse was very small and not much to look at. Very helpful and friendly staff working. Would love to play again but not sure I’ll ever be out in the area.
A great track in central MO
I enjoy playing here. Plenty of challenges and some risk-reward opportunities, but not overly difficult at about 6300 yds from the whites. The greens here have always been a selling point, and I'm pleased to see that they are still very nice after years of being a muni. There were a few bad spots in the fairways, but overall the course was in excellent condition. Sand in the bunkers is very coarse, but fortunately I only got into one. It was a typical hot August day and pace was very good on the front nine, but slowed to a crawl on the back as all of the groups caught up with a stack of foursomes that teed off earlier in the morning. Still, we finished in just under 4 hours, so not too bad. I'll be back.
Pace
Slow. Group of and 4 old people slowied up everyone! No course marshal
Love playing this course
Great course usually good at keeping up pace of play. Rough was a little long when we played may be for a tournament but still had a good time.
One of the best in mid-MO
The remodeled clubhouse looks really nice and, as always, the people are great. The course is one of the best in mid-Missouri, but there are a few spots out in the fairway that are recovering. It's not a big deal, you just move your ball out of those little areas and carry on.
Excellent course
We really enjoyed playing Tanglewood!
Staff was friendly and helpful. Course was in excellent condition with greens, T boxes and fairways all well maintained, plush and smooth.
We plan to return.
Fairways are great
We didn’t know prior to getting to course it would be cart path only - would have been nice to get a heads-up. We were not able to finish our round due to a torrential downpour which started just as we finished #15. Having said that would definitely recommend this course.
Amazing Course
Awesome course, lots of fun to play. Very easy in comparison to most courses, but a ton of fun to play
Some of the fairways have rough spots but are being work out. I am sure they will make them great again
Timber Lakes is a hidden gem!
Nothing bad you cans say about Timber. Greens are great, fairways are nice, tee boxes are very good as well. I've played there twice now and I will definitely be going back! Absolutely a great track!
