Challenging but nice
Course is very hilly with some challenging holes. Greens and fairways were in excellent condition and the staff was great. Would definitely play again
Fun Course
Greens were good, fairways were mostly good and tee boxes were good
Great public Ross receiving improvements
Hillcrest was our last round on a buddies trip to Kansas City in June and it was a really great round. First off, thanks to the staff for accommodating us on a busy Saturday morning even when we rolled up late to the tee time (rough night out), The opening par 3 is unique and pretty long but at least it's downhill so you can bunt a rusty tee shot down there pretty close. The property has some nice roll to the land and the routing is quite good. I especially liked the collection of par 5s. The 9th hole is a very tough par 4. Has anyone ever hit this sliver of fairway? Fun finishing hole that is almost drivable.
The shop told us it's under new ownership and there are improvements underway. The bunkers were redone and nince and irrigation work appeared to be wrapping up and the clubhouse is also being renovated.
It's pretty cool for KC golfers that there is a public and affordable Tillinghast and Ross design very close to one another. I tell people that Swope might be a little bolder but I overall enjoyed Hillcrest more.
Always a good time
The course is always in great shape and the staff is beyond friendly!
A bit dry and hard on the front nine
It was 100 degrees and sunny! The front 9 was very dry and the balls bounced like they were hitting macadam. The back 9 seemed a bit softer. You definitely need to pay attention to the pitches of the fairways to accommodate the bounce and roll. The greens were in great shape as were tee boxes
Mon and Tues is first responder day and it was only 25$!! The staff are super friendly and accommodating as well
I would play it again for sure. The blue tees are very long and challenging for the better players. The first hole tells the whole story for that LOL
Great Course
Sir Donald Ross course design didn’t disappoint. The layout of the course was awesome. The greens were what made the golf course. It was a track that played fair - it rewarded good shots and punished miss hits.
I was a big fan and enjoyed my experience. I wish it was my home course!
A fun round of golf.
This is a challenging course, but a fair course. There are a good variety of long and short holes. Good shots are rewarded and bad shots have consequences.
I really enjoy this course and it is a lot of fun to play.
Amazing Shape and Friendly
Played Saturday with my brother- $61 each on GolfNow compared to $69. Prices went up after it broke away from great life’s horrible management, the price increase is well worth it.
New bunkers, greens are quick and the fairways and rough look solid especially with all the elevation change.
Head pro very friendly I made the mistake of bringing my own cooler and luckily he was cool and just made me put in my car and brought out a 6 pack mix n match for real cheap. Thanks for being cool about it.
Recommend to anyone!
Hillcrest
First time playing this course my only complaint is that they need to cut the rough back on most holes grass was way too high and if you found your ball good luch hitting it.
Narrow but Fun
Good challenge, can be a bit nerve-wracking for those with inconsistent tee shots. Some of the tee boxes are very close to other holes and it can sometimes be easy to hit into other groups if you have an errant tee shot.
