Sandy greens
The course was very water logged. Greens were covered in so much sand that they looked brown. The ball, putter and club used around the greens were covered in sand. Pace was fine wirh an early tee time. Was excited to play the course since it had been a few years since I had. Maybe this is normal for the course on a weekday but it was not a good experience.
They Grossly Overbook
Unfortunately this course is over booking causing 30-40 minute delays even before you tee off. It's to bad because the course is nice, but I won't return.
Not a good value for the money
The tee boxes and greens were in bad shape. There were 3 large groups playing and no Marshall to move them along.
Needs a lot of improvement
This is possibly the most challenging public course in the area. However, there are several improvements that should be made.
1. Tee boxes need to be aerated and sanded. They are just so beat up and hard. Also there are a few that are on a bad slant.
2. Greens are like surface of the moon. I understand this is not 100% fault of the staff. Old codgers need to fix ball marks. However the staff needs to fix them as well in the mornings.
3. Bunkers... Well... That are 100% unplayable. No sand, all mud and clay with rocks the size of a 3wood head. Full of water even after 5 days of no rain.
Love the layout but condition is less than good.
Bear Creek as enjoyable and reliable as they come
Been playing Bear Creek for years and they never disappoint. Tee to greens the course has been in great shape this year of covid. Greens roll true and just a fun course layout. Highly recommended. Will certainly come back.
Great Course
A buddy and I played here for the first time and were super happy with the course. The gentleman in the pro shop was nice and gave us some info before heading out. The fairways are pretty wide and open for the most part, cart paths were a little rough, but could tell they were in the process of redoing parts of them and widening it. Greens weren’t too bad, fair amount of divot marks, but that’s due to lazy people. No dead spots at all though which is a huge plus in my book. Overall, for the price we paid for this course it was well worth it and we will definitely be back.
Labor Day at Belk
I love this track. I wound up using a lot of clubs that don't spend much time out of my bag. The fairways were in great shape while the greens were just fair.
Great golf value.
Great potential
This course has great potential! The old codgers need to learn to repair ball marks on the green. If you can't bend over to fix a ball marks then DON'T PLAY! Fairways in very good shape. Rough is penalizing bit not a death sentence. Bunkers are horrible! Nothing but rock and mud. Tee boxes look like they've been beat with a rake and then hit with roundup.

Slow
Too many golfers on the course and only saw a 'Marshall' twice. Marshall did not explain why pace was so slow. Over five hours to play 18. No rhythm, no pace resulting in slow golf.
I say I wouldnt recommend this course, but if they would not book so many tee times, enforce pace of play, and people playing in their game and not from the black tees when they shouldnt I would recommend the course.
Bear Creecy- Wentzville
Course needs some attention. Bunkers horrible. Greens hard. Lots of weeds
sand traps need work pace of play is slow but bang for your buck cant be beat fairways an greens look good
Challenging Yet Fun Course with Big Greens
Bear Creek is a challenging course yet is still fun to play. The downside to challenging courses for average players is that they can be slow, and it took us almost five hours to play. The greens seemed pretty big to our group and most were in good shape but a few had big brown patches. I putted very well in my round so I’m probably biased on the green conditions! A decent number of holes have water come into play.
The first hole is really downhill, and I drilled my first tee shot long and straight leaving a short shot in. Hole 2 is a beast starting with a tough tee shot with a pretty long forced carry. After playing the par-3 sixth, there was a major wait to play the seventh hole but we never figured out why. While we were putting on six, there were two full groups waiting on the seventh tee with another foursome in the fairway. Must have waited 15-20 minutes between putting out and hitting the next tee shot.
No. 11 is a great hole that either forces you to hit a great shot to get on in two, but the layup shot isn’t easy, either! The last two holes are fun with 17 seemingly a driveable par 4 but the water short and right makes it tough. The green at 18 is right under the balcony, and our entire group all hit the green that drew a few cheers from the people standing up there!
The course is tucked way back in a neighborhood and a number of houses are RIGHT on the course. Not sure when but another course to play again in the future. Just not in a prime day or time slot.
SLOW PLAY!
I'm giving this course a four star rating because of a foursome that held up several groups for the final 12 holes or so. Of course they let no one play through and a couple of groups had to skip a hole because of them. I did see a ranger at the golf shop before we teed off, but he was nowhere to be found during play. Other than that and unplayable bunkers,, the course was in excellent condition and pretty challenging. Plenty of water so accuracy is a must. I definitely plan to go back.
Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. Our grounds crew is working hard to give attention to our course. Currently, they are working on cleaning up some tree lines and cart paths, along with greens maintenance. We hope you will try us again so you can see all of the work they're putting in.
