Horrible staff
The staff at bear creek are the worst I’ve ever encountered. Me and 5 friends booked back to back tee times so we could kind of stick together, (done this many times and never had an issue anywhere else). The staff continually harassed us saying we couldn’t play together and they were going to kick us off the course. No other players around us had any issue with us doing this, (yes we asked). Nice course but horrible staff. We spent $50X 6 golfers so they made good money off us not to mention the golf balls and beer we purchased. Needless to say we won’t be back.
Worst Pace of Play
This could be a really nice place to play if they had a starter on the first hole & rangers that drove around on the front & back nine to stop people from jumping holes & from playing 2 to 3 balls a hole. As soon as this course gets your money, they could care less what happens out on the course. WORST PACE OF PLAY...PERIOD!
I like this course, but i will never book a HOT DEAL on Golfnow ever again!!! It rained for 12hrs prior to tee time and i called to cancel and get a rain check, tje course told me since i booked thru Golfnow that they couldn't do anything for me., i had to contact them which is impossible and haven't found a way yet. So we went to play because i had already paid for the round, when we got there tjey told us front 9 was closed due to flooding and we had to wait 1 hour because it was still raining then we attempted to play, made it 4 holes and it was just a disaster so we went home. Very disappointed in Golfnow and their cancelation policies and no way to get reimbursement i presume?
Hello, We're so sorry you experienced this issue. We will be going over our rain check policy with our employees to make sure they know how to issue them. We would like to make sure you are able to have a more enjoyable experience at Bear Creek Golf Club. Please email us at events@bearcreekgolf.com, and we will make your next experience a great one!
decent
good round. course in decent shape. greens were very firm, did not receive balls to softly. some pin locations were in too tough and silly spots
Over booked
Way too overbooked for a Thursday afternoon, 5 hour round..course in good shape though.
Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We have been more busy with people wanting to get out now more than ever. We do have marshals out on the course trying to keep the pace up. One thing that has been slowing down the play is every person taking a cart to themselves. The reason we are encouraging everyone to take their own cart is for their health and safety. We hope you will try our course again, and, again, we are sorry that you experienced a slow pace.
Great Course Very Challenging
All zoisia fairways, a few spots that are in repair, greens are true and really fast, will hold if you get spin on pitch shot, no spin it keeps on going. Great layout and pretty holes. Definitely worth the hour drive to get there.
Ok for the monet
We had 3.7 inches of rain in the last week, so you can’t expect too much. Greens were pretty bumpy but ok. Fairways were thin and still not very green not for a lack of water. Maybe just too cool yet.
Course traps have been horrible for years. No sand and to many rocks. Plus it is cart path only even it s dry.
The Staff is the BEST! Above Average Layout!
The staff is the best! Ben makes amazing food and is beyond nice. I cannot remember the ladies name that was working in the pro shop, but she’s been there for a couple years, but she is absolutely amazing too! They are second to none!
The course layout is definitely above average, but the course conditions are average to slightly below average. If you catch a hot deal on Golf Now price , it’s definitely a bargain, if not it can be a bit pricey for the quality of golf course.
My overall experience is usually above average, but that’s definitely attributed to the staff! They have definitely hired well!
More Course Yardage Markers, Please!
I love Bear Creek and have been playing it since it opened 20+ years ago. I also love its designer, Gary Kern, and play so many of his tracks in our STL metro area as well as Jackson, MO (Bent Creek). But Bear Creek is SO poorly marked for yardage markers that when it's a cart path-only day it makes for a long day even longer when it doesn't need to be. On all par 4s and 5s there are 200, 150 and 100 markers somewhere near the middle of the fairway, but just one. And some are buried to the point that they're hard to see and find. Just a simple swath of paint on the cart path indicating those three yardages to give you a clue would be so simple and save soooo much time for everyone. Pace of play is one of the biggest complaints in golf and Bear Creek could improve theirs greatly with a small can of blue, white and red paint to add to their hard-to-find marker plates in their fairways (at least in the winter). But otherwise a fantastic course.
Good course but slow today
The course is OK given the cold winter and yet to have spring. However the pace of play was very poor. Carts on cart path only really slow things down, worse than just walking where you go straight to your ball. I've been here before in summer where I've really enjoyed the course. But not when the pave of play is as slow as it was today.
Staffeas very friendly. Restaurant was excellent. Course was in good shape considering we are only March
Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are sorry you had a poor experience at our course. We have been experiencing a high volume of golfers lately, and several are taking their own cart. Having more carts and players on the course has slowed things down a bit. We hope you will try us again. Feel free to send any other concerns to info@bearcreekgolf.com
