Loved Cattails July 2018
Cattails is always a pleasure under great conditions. Layout can be very challenging, especially the back 9, but much neater than average and can be very rewarding . Barely used driver on the back.
Perfect Golf
Great place to play, Place your shots or bring more golf balls
Good course, rangers were jerks
We waited on the tee on every hole and were warned about slow play by the ranger on hole 7. Only to have him follow us to the 8th tee and see that we would be waiting again. He then moved on but was constantly checking in on us and stared me down as we pulled into the clubhouse after 18. If I had more time I would have gone inside and said something.
The course was in good shape and the bar staff and cart girl were great. One ranger has me rethinking playing this course in the future.
Not for a first time golfer
The course is in very nice shape but impossible to enjoy playing without playing a few times .too many shots are needed to figure out where to hit the ball from the tee box and there is no gps on the carts.a caddie or a tour guide is needed to figure this course out ..greens were in great shape but dont have a flat spot on them .it was nice to play but i am not intending to go back ,,,,,, tooooo frustrating!!!!
Worth
Challenging without being frustrating. Take it easy on the 10th hole : ) Otherewise I enjoy playing the course
Shot makers course.
Leave your driver at home. I played 18 with my 5wood (230yds). The green complexes are where the trouble lies. Do yourself a favor and keep your tee shots in the fairways. A little longer shots into the greens will be much easier to work with. For the opening season, the course was soft, but the greens were in great shape for March golf.
Decent Track w/ Interesting Approach Game Options
Cattails was a nice track, with very straightforward holes that offered up some interesting green contours to make the round somewhat memorable. Front 9 is fairly straight foward with many dead straight holes. however, good variety in the design in that the routing features a variety of hole directions which brings in different wind directions if those elements exist. Back 9 is much more dog-legged and wooded; unlike the Front 9, the Back 9 offers some opportunities to cut off corners. I often chose to accept a longer approach with a mid to long iron on the back 9. Most of the fairways offer a variety of contours (upslope/downslope/right slope/left slope) which also challenges the approach game. I inquired about a walking rate, to which they did not offer. Still i decided to walk and must say it was disappointing that it is not offered because the course is a pretty easy walk. My twosome that walked was able to keep pace with the cart twosome in front of us the entire round. Played 18 in 3 hours and 45 mins, walking on a relatively not busy Saturday late afternoon. Will continue to visit as i thought the course does a good job of testing all of your irons due to the doglegs.
Cattails GC is a good track for the money!
Course was in great shape, pace of play excellent on the front 9, and painfully slow on the back 9.
The pin placements were brutal the day we played, they added 10 strokes to my score, lol!
All in all, a good time.
Tough
Very tough course. Hole 1 should be a par 4 instead of a 360 yard par 5 from the white tees.
nice day for 18
course was in good shape, challenging pin placements with lots of sloping greens
