About
Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

Solid Course
Driving range and other features are sub par. Course itself is solid, always in good shape. This was the most crowded I've ever seen it. Normally pace of play is excellent

Good course to play, always in great shape, only issue is NO drinking water on the course, no cart person.

As referenced before, we are not allowed to have drinking water available on the course for all of the public to handle as we did Pre Covid. A beverage cart without a liquor license has never been very popular here. Drinks are available in the Pro Shop.
Traps need more LIove….different sand vs dirt
Greens are good, hard and speed ok. Traps needs more

Course is in phenomenal shape, you can tell they are putting money into the course. Better than Royce Brook public, not even close actually. Read some other reviews stating there’s better value elsewhere? Where’s that? Golf is hot right now you aren’t getting a deal anywhere. If you want a deal play twilight. I think someone else said they’d rather play Rutgers... To them, I’d say “you’re nuts”. Go see for yourself. Other than neshanic and heron Glen, in this area, right now, Mattawang is second to none.

Course in very nice shape
Greens were perfect. Pace for our threesome a really enjoyable 3hrs 15 minutes. Only MINOR issue is a few bunkers could use a little more sand.

Conditions excellent.
I’ve played at MW over the years many times. My Thursday golf league had been playing there for several years - course was always in good shape. Yesterday it was in GREAT shape. Now I wonder why our league was not invited back. I miss playing there on a regular basis.

Your Thursday league conversation is better suited for a more private conversation but last year with Covid restrictions we could not handle our regular leagues. This year we were not approached, so I would check with your league admin.

Good shape
Easy walking course. Course is relatively open so errant tee shots don’t spell doom. First time playing here and enjoyed my round. Pace of play was fair (4.5 hrs). Would I play here again? I play all over but, for instance, I’d play Rutgers over this course.
