About
Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

Excellent Course
Always enjoy playing here. Course layout is rather difficult on majority of the holes. Staff are very friendly and the course was in great shape. Can we please open up the outside grill? Miss having a burger, dog or sausage at the turn. Be back again soon!

Steve, glad you were able to get out and enjoy your round over the 4th of July weekend.
Due to the national shortage of cooks and wait staff we have decided to not open the outside grill for this season. This is something we will re-visit over the fall/winter.
Sorry to see you rated us near 6 months after your round. Hopefully, you will come back now that we are not in the middle of a tough winter.

Mattawang- No bang for the buck...
It was 95 degrees and humid and not one cart gal to be found or any water on the course. I didn't see one ranger the whole time we played.
$79 for a course that is in at best "fair " condition, is alloy of money.
Much better courses available for that price.
They should put some money into the course and fox it up. Could be a very nice track ... some day.
As we have stated many times. Water coolers are not allowed to be put out for everyone's use since Covid restrictions were set forth. Drinks and snacks are available in the Pro Shop.
There were two rangers on the course the day you played. All rounds finished in 4 hours to 4 hours and 20 minutes.
Hot but fun
Teed off on time at 8:20 as a threesome with two of my friends. It's one of those courses where you hear "fore" often. I also felt like we waited to tee off on most holes, yet we finished the front in just 2 hours and the back about 2 and 20. Not a bad time, just felt longer because of the waiting. Layout is decent and enough hazards and rough/brush in areas so you can lose a ball or two if you're not having a great round. Staff is friendly. Driving range, practice green.

Solid course
The course is always in good shape. Fairways & greens are nice and make the round enjoyable. It’s not a great layout buy its still challenging from the tips & the small greens certainly keep it interesting. The pace of play can get brutal but thats pretty much the case everywhere in Jersey. Very solid course for the $$ and you dont feel like you got ripped off which is more than can be said for 75% of the public courses in this state. Also perfect course for higher handicaps.

This course is always in good condition
The lack of ball washer and coolers on the course along with no food and beverage availability is disappointing but the course is always in very good shape.
Glad to see you enjoy the conditions. All of the items you reference as disappointing have been addressed repeatedly on this site. For future reference snacks and drinks are available to all inside the Pro Shop.

Plush Course
Grasss was very soft all over the course. Greens are small but in tremendous shape. Definitely will play this course again as it presents a good challenge to the average golfer.

The Greens are very tight. Fairways are very forgiving with little challenge.
Decent course
Straightforward layout with very small greens, decent conditions. Slightly overpriced for what you get.
