About
Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

Great course with fast play
Solid course with good conditions, but you need to byob as they have no cart girl/halfway house.
Nice Course
We seem to play here a lot probably because the course is difficult and long. We always get a tee time. If you like big greens, wide open fairways and short par 3's you may want to think about booking elsewhere....

Rain
We only got 8 holes in before the storm and no rain check.
Sorry but we have never issued rain checks, but as long as you do not start you can always get a refund.
A really good course...
This is one of my favorite courses within a short drive of my home. The course starts off with some short and easy holes but quickly stretches out and becomes more difficult. The greens are small but were in excellent shape the day we played. The pace of play was good, 4 hours 15 minutes on a Sunday with perfect weather, not bad. If you have never played it it's worth a try.
My only complaint is NO WATER. It was 95 degrees and no water on the course, no cart selling drinks...Nothing. The only way to get a drink is to run into the club house at the turn...very bad on days like that.

Just an fyi, we are no longer allowed to have the public water coolers on the course due to state restrictions.

Go the distance
Hole length made the course challenging; 3 par threes about 180+ yards; multiple Pat fours greater then 400+ yards, at least one par five greater then 500 yards; played from the standard tees (between the senior tees and the highly skilled tees).

Pleasant day
The course is good except the bunkers were not in good condition... maybe because of all the rain in the past few days
We appreciate you making the trip from NY.
The bunkers took 3.5 inches of rain over 48 hours. We are planning on restoring the bunkers as soon as time, the weather and play allows.
Due to recent heavy 2 days of rain the bunkers were filled with water and no real dry areas. Greens good and consistent. Fairways mowed well almost all green. First cut consistent and uniform throughout. Slightly up in price from years past. No real wait and good pace.
