About
Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

Course is in phenomenal shape, you can tell they are putting money into the course. Better than Royce Brook public, not even close actually. Read some other reviews stating there’s better value elsewhere? Where’s that? Golf is hot right now you aren’t getting a deal anywhere. If you want a deal play twilight. I think someone else said they’d rather play Rutgers... To them, I’d say “you’re nuts”. Go see for yourself. Other than neshanic and heron Glen, in this area, right now, Mattawang is second to none.

Course in very nice shape
Greens were perfect. Pace for our threesome a really enjoyable 3hrs 15 minutes. Only MINOR issue is a few bunkers could use a little more sand.

Conditions excellent.
I’ve played at MW over the years many times. My Thursday golf league had been playing there for several years - course was always in good shape. Yesterday it was in GREAT shape. Now I wonder why our league was not invited back. I miss playing there on a regular basis.

Your Thursday league conversation is better suited for a more private conversation but last year with Covid restrictions we could not handle our regular leagues. This year we were not approached, so I would check with your league admin.
Great local course
Always enjoyed playing Mattawang. The greens and rough are well-maintained and the course is great condition.

Good shape
Easy walking course. Course is relatively open so errant tee shots don’t spell doom. First time playing here and enjoyed my round. Pace of play was fair (4.5 hrs). Would I play here again? I play all over but, for instance, I’d play Rutgers over this course.

Great course with fast play
Solid course with good conditions, but you need to byob as they have no cart girl/halfway house.

Nice Course
We seem to play here a lot probably because the course is difficult and long. We always get a tee time. If you like big greens, wide open fairways and short par 3's you may want to think about booking elsewhere....

We only got 8 holes in before the storm and no rain check.
Sorry but we have never issued rain checks, but as long as you do not start you can always get a refund.
A really good course...
This is one of my favorite courses within a short drive of my home. The course starts off with some short and easy holes but quickly stretches out and becomes more difficult. The greens are small but were in excellent shape the day we played. The pace of play was good, 4 hours 15 minutes on a Sunday with perfect weather, not bad. If you have never played it it's worth a try.
My only complaint is NO WATER. It was 95 degrees and no water on the course, no cart selling drinks...Nothing. The only way to get a drink is to run into the club house at the turn...very bad on days like that.
