Flanders Valley Golf Club - White/Blue Course
About
Flanders Valley Golf Course has received praise as not only one of the best public golf courses in New Jersey, but also as one of the best in the U.S. Flanders offers two 18-hole championship courses, White-to-Blue and Red-to-Gold. The courses are spread across over 400 acres of Morris County's idyllic countryside. The White-to-Blue Course has a more traditional layout that sprawls across mostly flat terrain. The golf course may lack elevation changes but there are an abundance of mature trees to contend with on either side of the course, making it very tight in some spots. One of the most memorable holes is the par-4 14th, nicknamed "Top and Right." This slight dogleg left hole has a pond bordering the entire left side of the fairway.

Carts not included?
Flanders Valley is in that part of New Jersey where prices tend to be steeper (expected) than the topography is actually varied, even including some hills that border on mountainous (unexpected). I arrived as a single and got paired with three very nice guys, including appropriately enough, Bob Sr., who was wearing his US Marines First Division on Veterans Day. I found the course to be relatively flat since it was set in the Valley. This time of , it is important that they put some effort into clearing the leaves, which they did. The golf itself at least on this 18 (they have another 18) seemed pretty vanilla. Number 9 & 18 were a truly pretty golf holes but little else seemed exciting. Shot values were solid/reasonable. The shop staff and the starter/marshalls were very nice. The golf now fee covered golf only so carts were another $18. Nice putting green but no range for a 36 hole facility (unless I missed it). Very pretty 2 hour drive from Philly.
Nice place
Great golf experience. the course has charictor and the elevations make it challenging and the huge green's have subtle breaks that may challenge your putting game.
Enjoyable course
Course conditions were very good, staff very helpful before and after play, Rangers could improve pace of play which was terribly slow, refreshments on course non-existent, Tiki bar at turn and for after golf was riddled with flies.
Outstanding
Flanders is always a treat. Fairways are in great shape as well as the greens, which given the current weather conditions, e.g. drought, was a wonderful surprise. The tee boxes were a little worn but given the amount of play it's to be expected. Staff is always pleasant for the most part. One of the rangers, Jim, even offered us some water to top off our bottles. Pace of play was right around 4 hours for. Weekday mid morning start. Not bad at all. I would highly recommend Flanders especially for those who live close to the city and want to get way to the country for the day, you can't beat the views!
Womderful Course
Course was in very good condition, staff very friendly pace of play was good, greens were in excellent condition, course very challenging, Had a great time with two other buddies, Worth playing again
Price does not include cart
Very nice course. Nice variety of holes. Made the turn at 12:00 and the lunch bar wasn't ready with food. Watch out as golf ow rate does not include riding cart. We should know about that at time of booking
Former top tencourse fallen on hard times
Used to play this 36 hole track regularly in the 90's & 2000's. It never was a great value for out of county players but I always loved the layout. Now, it is an abysmal shape from tee box to green. Bunkers are a mess, however I must add that the greens were acceptable. Looks like it is in some sort of transitional phase with a golf management company taking over things. Until then...avoid!
Great course
I had the opportunity to play Flanders early Friday morning. I made it early, about half an hour before my tee time and the shop was closed. They allowed us to tee and pay at the turn. I teed up without warning up and played horrible. But, the course is well maintained, offers great play, my groups kept a fast pace. The bunkers were not well kept, but the rest of the course was great. It is open, beautiful set up. Feel free to play it.
12 Holes took 4 hours
Gave up after 12 holes, could not take the slow play anymore. No Marshals to be found to speed up the groups ahead of us. Greens were good for the most part, but a couple VERY tough greens/pin locations slowed down play. Watched the group in front of us play a par 3 and each one of the four took atleast 3 putts, two took 4 putts to get down. My group had a 1 putt (chipped to tap in range), a 3 putt, and a 4 putt. This par 3 took each group on average 15-20 minutes to complete.
I would love to give it another chance but I am not willing to give up another 4 hours of my time to only get in 12 holes.
Nice course
Overall great course. Greens are a little inconsistent.
Reservation Misleading
I thought when I booked this reservation that a cart was included, and it was not. Maybe it was my oversight, maybe not. I do notice that the Flanders rates don't seem to be discounted on Golf Now
great to see again
played a lot here 20 years ago. loved the gold great layout, fun they will see more of me.
always love to play this course.
Well managed course.
Few teams are very slow in their play. Marshall needs to put extra attention on time management.
Front Nine (Gold) Hilly, Back Nine (Red) easy walk
I decided to take a cart because the starting hole was a long walk up a hill and I wasn't sure if the rest of the course was as hilly. The front nine is hilly and there are some long walks between holes. I played with some friends that walked and they said the front was tough but the back nine (red) was an easy walk.
The course is fun and plays fair. My playing partners have handicaps of 8 and 12 and they enjoyed the course as much as I did. I did not feel there was any real "trouble" on the course. There are a few more carries on the back nine (red) but fair for female golfers.
The staff was very friendly and there was a nice ladies locker room (which surprised me for a country course). It also had an outdoor "tiki" bar which gave the place a nice atmosphere.
The pace of play could have been better, there was a man in the group in front of us holding up the play because on every hole he lost his ball and took too much time looking for it. The ranger came by 3 times during the round and never addressed the issue, which was disappointing because there was no group ahead of the group slowing up play. The round was 4 hours and 40 minutes. My playing partners figured we would have finished a half-hour earlier if not for the slow "ball searcher" in the group ahead.
Bottom line, I will definitely go back and play again. Hopefully, no slow ball searching players will be in the group ahead of me.
Aeratuon
Nowhere did it state that there was Aeratuon going on. Would have been nice to know this before booking. The greens were terrible
green is condition so bad
We can't enjoyed because fairway and green condition so bad
Thank you for your comments on the course condition at Flanders Valley. The course was very slow to wake up coming out of the winter. As of May 27 the course conditions have improve dramatically and you should now experience the great conditions that Flanders Valley is known for.

A very nice course
Friendly staff, good playing conditions except greens weren't in good shape. Pace of play was great 4hrs
disappointed
Greens were 90% sand, grass had not grown I . Looked like they were rolled /aerated. No warning from starter or check in. Tried to charge us additional charge for carts we were out of county residents. Luckily my son had it onphone. Manager came out and resolved 2 with no additional issue. Fairways were rock hard , ball would hit and roll another 50 yards. Had to hit approach shot short of green and pray it did not roll off green. Have played this course a few times every year but will not go back this year. Too many better courses within an hour.
Thank you for your comments about Flanders Valley Golf Course. I glad that Bill Meyler was able to solve your check in issue. At the beginning of every season there are some training issues and we will ensure this does not happen again. Billy Casper Golf takes pride in customer service and we want to ensure that your next experience is a 10 our of 10. The course has finally recovered from the harsh winter and the conditions are back to what our customers expect.

Thank you for your feedback on the conditions at Flanders Valley Golf Course. We should have advised you about the aeration process and green recovery time. I have informed the staff that it is the right thing to do to inform our guest of course conditions. The Gold nine has experienced a rough winter and three greens were damaged. As of May 27 the repairs have been initiated and the recovery time should be two weeks on those three greens. All the holes are open and conditions have improved 100% since early May.
