Meadows Golf Club
About
Meadows Golf Club in Lincoln Park offers a casual and enjoyable round for players of all skill levels. For more of a challenge, golfers can try the blue tees while the white and the red tees are more forgiving of errant shots. The course sprawls across mostly flat terrain but there are a few subtly elevated greens to contend with. The layout is situated amidst native wetlands, which come into play on many of the holes. The back nine is more challenging than the front, with the toughest hole being the par-5 13th. At 455 yards, it's not a long hole but there are two large fairway bunkers and an elevated green that is surrounded by even more sand. The best view on the golf course can also be enjoyed from the middle of the green on this hole.

Backyard golf
Tee boxes and greens are infested with crabgrass. Used to be good value and you get what you pay for, but 70 bucks to play basically in the backyard is a ripoff
Incredibly slow
Incredibly slow. Nearly 3 hours for 9. Massive bees in most bunkers were a problem and the course condition wasn’t great.
Would play again, but not for $70.
It's a $30 course
It was a dry 85 degree day. We opted to walk 18. $60 to walk 18 was a bit steep, but it was a Saturday and very busy. After the first hole, we realized we were in a war zone. People yelling and cursing from the holes next to us all day, Divots and dirt patches everywhere on the green, balls flying and being stolen left and right, tons of first time people out on the course. Many times we'd be waiting on the tee box because someone from another hole shanked it, then took their sweet time on our fairway.
The worst part of the day was the fact that there was no water anywhere to be found on the course. Neither the front nor the back 9 had any spot for water. On a hot summer day with the price we paid, i'd expect some sort of water out there.. but there was no management of the course in any way.
Save yourself the pain and only play here if you're getting a twilight tee-time for $25. I will definitely never come here on a weekend again. Terrible.
Bees and Browns
Pace of play was good for walking but two major issues:
- one whole has 100’s of carpenter bees swarming around the sand trap. Serious health issue if you are allergic to bees
- greens are not well maintained and over 50% has brown/dead grass
Starting to show wear
I played The Meadows many times over the years. It's typically a nice little course that you are able to get out a play a round with late notice. The history of the course is because the course is in low area a few days of heavy rain, it takes a few days for the course to recover. I played 4 weeks ago and the course never looked better but with all of the dry weather the course is showing it's wear. the Tee boxes, and greens need a lot of help, buckers are dirt and rock with no sign of sand to be found in them. I hope the can make improvements because i really like this course but it's becoming unplayable.
My morning round.
Tee Boxes needed work, fairways decent, greens had many dead patches. Overall a decent course. Pace of play needs to be managed better.
Progressively worse
The course conditions have gotten progressively worse over the current year. Grounds up keep is horrible. One hole in particular I think 7 might have had the worst tee box I’ve seen in my life.
Course conditions not great
The fairways were ok, but the tee boxes were terrible. It was tough to find a spot on the tee boxes where the turf was consistent. We had to be very careful to pick a spot where we could get a flat stance and our feet weren't on bare dirt, causing people to lose their balance on the tee shot. As for the greens, they were super slow. I'd put them at 7 or 8 on the stint meter. There had been no rain in the area for 3 days, but I don't think they rolled the greens at all.
Bad conditions
Fairways were terrible most all had large areas of brown grass. Some greens also had large burnt grass areas had
Had to move ball to find good putting surface. Very slow play we stopped after 9 holes due to the excessive waiting
Between golf shots.
Well maintained public course
The only downside are the really slow greens.
But staff was overwhelming in going out of its way and help out to solve a problem of mine.
