Ocean County Golf Course at Atlantis

About
The Ocean County Golf Course at Atlantis is an 18-hole, public course located in Little Egg Harbor. George Fazio designed the challenging course, which has a yardage of 6,848 at the longest tees with a par of 72. The course also features tree-lined fairways and greens of bent grass and water hazards that come into play on some holes.
Ocean County Golf Course at Atlantis has a particularly tricky 6th hole since there is a pond in the middle of the fairway that you must get past in order to reach the green. The golf course used to be private so it features all the amenities that a private club would have such as a restaurant and pro shop.

Great course Bad bugs
The course is in excellent condition. Fairways totally green grass. The greens are perfect. New sand in the bunkers, no complaints. Rough is US Open high. You will be penalized for missing a fairway. This was once a country club with a hotel. Not anymore it's a county course and the restaurant on site is staffed and run by the county vo- tech students and they do a great job. Bring bug spray with you. The greens heads will carry you away.
Buggy back nine
A nice day, so a packed course. The blind tee shots slowing down play to 5hr plus. The bugs mostly on back nine. I played before and had a decent 4hr round so timing is everything.
water holes
A nice course with multiple water holes. The greens were recently aerated
toughest public course in NJ
Let me preface this by saying I've played this course severa dozenl times since getting a beach house with my boys back in 1993 and then buying my own house in 1998. This is the best condition I've ever seen this course in. The fairways were thick and lush, as were the tee boxes for the most part. Green are usually about an eight on the stimp meter here..slow as heck....they were good today. Then there is the rough....RIDICULOUSLY tough...thick!! made the mistake of trying seven wood and hybrid out of there front nine...yea I shot 51 and I'm a 15 handi all day. SO many tough holes.....nine, 10, 17, 18,,,,can go on and on....If you shot your handi here you had a great round...you won't.
Top 3 course at the shore!
Everything was perfect, fairways (not that I saw many), greens, even woods were clean(saw all of them). Going back SOON!!
First impressions are important
Arrived before 8 for an 8:30. Walking to the pro shop, noticed man with IPad who seemed to be entertaining the regulars that were milling around.
Inside pro shop, asked and was granted a solo cart, with a $17 fee. Went outside, didn’t see anyone with the IPad, so I started to mount my bag to one of the carts. As soon as I got in the cart and hit the gas pedal, I got yelled at. “HEY?!?!?! WHERE TOU GOING?!?!?” The starter was within 5 feet of me and I know he watched me put my own bag on the cart. Too busy schmoozing the regular players to even be pleasant or professional to a new face you have never seen before.
So, after my scolding, it completely took my mind off golf. After a few putts on the practice green, I go back to my cart, directly in front of the starter and see it’s 8:24. A player walking said to the starter he was heading to the tee. I’m just sitting in my cart. The walking golfer asks me what my tee time was. I told him and he invited me to the first tee.
My group was 2 other players, the walking player and me. About 2-3 holes in, I realized I would have had my own cart if I didn’t do or say anything. At the turn, I went in to pro shop to plead my case for a $17 refund. After a little explaining, I was given the refund. Thank you for doing the right thing, but the damage to my mental game from the terrible first encounter was done.
The course was ok. A little more elevation changes then most NJ course. Greens were slow. I can see some work being done . That’s all I remember.
Will probably steer away from returning. The cost on GolfNow was ok for a Sunday morning. Payed an extra $3 and got a good turkey bacon wrap for lunch, but the starter really soured the entire experience. A little customer service training could help.
Good course
Great course for the money. The rough was too rough.
Great challenging course
Greens looked recently renovated some better conditions than others. Fairways are in great shapes, course was a little muddy but not to bad. Definitely will be coming back for the money can’t go wrong.
Leaves
Leaves on sides are bad... Everything else is perfect... The staff , starters, and all are the best
Grounds on course
The grounds around and alongside of the course need to be cleaned of leaves... The amount of leaves are unbleavable. Please rake and remove.
