In fine shape
Due to the heat and lack of rain some courses have been beat up. While there were some spots on the fairways the tee boxes and greens were generally in good shape.

Was in fine shape
Considering the summer we had the course was in good shape. Greens and tee boxes were solid and very few patchy spots in the fairways. We’re able to complete in less than 4 hours on a Sunday afternoon.

OK course, nothing special…
Overall I’d say my experience was ok. Conditions were actually pretty poor (we are having uncooperative weather lately). None of the holes were memorable and the pace of play was terrible. I had a group in front of me that took almost 15-20 minutes on a par 4.
I’m from Philadelphia so it is about a 45 minute drive away for me. I don’t think I’ll be coming back anytime soon, much better & closer options to the city.

Good condition
There were some burnt out spots on fairways, but the course was in really good condition.

Best GC in Area; Friendliest Staff on Planet
I've been playing at Golden Pheasant for 30+ years. Before retiring, I played at most 6 times/yr at GP plus a few rounds, in my business travels, at top US courses -- Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, Torrey Pines, Sawgrass, Pinehurst, and Pine Valley for example. All are great courses; some have incredible vistas; one (30 min South of GP) was far too punitive for my skill set and I've turned down multiple invitations to play there again.
Now retired, I play 3 days/wk at GP. I play with great golf buds who I didn't know before we met at GP ...... and therein lies the secret sauce of GP. It's a very friendly place to play golf. It's not just my playing partners. Everyone who works there -- the General Manager, the Pro Shop staff, the cart handlers, the grounds crew -- is more than just friendly. The positive vibes I get are they're working to make me happy with my golf experience.
That doesn't mean there aren't times when I'd like to be on the 7th green of Torrey Pines South -- high on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, with hang-gliders rising up from the beach to higher than the cliff-side holes.
Maybe I'll ask the grounds crew if they wouldn't mind making me a nice ocean view.

Staff super friendly really helped me out and accommodated me. But I wish golfers would learn to fix and repair divots on the green

In pretty good shape
Tee boxes and greens were mostly fine. Some dry spots in a few fairways but considering out lack of rain and hot weather that wasn't a complete surprise. Some standing water in a few traps.

Nice Course
First time I've played there and had never even heard of it before the week before we played. Nice layout, very good course conditions and friendly staff. The greens were pretty well-kept (fix your ball marks people!) and not too flat but slower than I expected. It rained the night before but the person my buddy and I played with knows the course well and told us they're not much faster under normal circumstances (I kind of suck but I like faster greens). A little bit pricey (although not with the senior discount, but the people I play with aren't seniors) and a little far for me (45 minute drive). Definitely enjoyed the course and I'll pretty definitely put it in my rotation every summer but there are a number of courses just as nice for less or similar money closer to me (there are also many not as nice for similar prices). Some of that sounds a bit negative but it's definitely worth checking out if you've never played it (If I could have I'd have given it 4 and a half). I could see people loving it.
