Bowling Green Golf Club
About
Bowling Green Golf Club is in the heart of northern New Jersey, surrounded by miles of idyllic countryside. An abundance of mature oaks and towering red pines characterizes the scenic course. This quick, shady layout is a great round for walkers. The golf course has a classic links design that is easily played in less than four hours. Like most traditional links courses, the gently undulating terrain has the perfect pitch and roll. It also provides each hole with unique challenges that require accuracy and strategy. Trees heavily line the fairways, presenting some of the course's most formidable challenges. Bowling Green Golf Club's front nine is slightly more forgiving than the back nine, which incorporates the natural ponds and wetlands on a few holes. There are also some tricky doglegs to contend with.

Fantastic Course
Rained the day before so I checked on the morning if it was cart path only . . . No mention of it . . . When we got there it was cart path only . . . No issue HOWEVER on hole 16 the "ranger" says to the guys we are paying with WE have to step it up . . . On cart path only I doubt it . .. . Glad to see he thought he was doing his "job" however all he did was infuriate us because we were fine before he woke up and came to work . . . Pace of play will be extended during cart path only rules it ONLY MAKES SENSE
Well maintained and friendly staff
Well maintained course with friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Course in great shape
Greens were in excellent shape course and play was at a good pace . Would definitely play again
Bowling Green
Second time playing the course. Good, solid course. Great condition. Good pace of play. Nice staff. Great facilities.
Not a bad day
I played here years ago (I thought) and did not think much of it-my bad, wrong course…I liked the track, greens were great, end of day on a holiday so a few pitch marks but thats on the dopes playing that day. Not sure how the group in front of us were let out a foursome with 2 bags…they would tee off once the group in front were putting, added some time to our round, by 14 they were gone-no idea if they ran out of balls, or the course removed them.
Bowling Green (Always a Good Time)
Always love coming back to Bowling Green. A little gem tucked away in a secluded section of Oak Ridge near the Sparta boarder. Course is well maintained, somewhat challenging, new electric golf carts but very walkable. Biggest complaint is the green fees have gone up quite a bit in the last couple of years. This time I paid twilight rates. Nonetheless, I continue to come back because it is a fun course to play. Beautiful, especially in the fall.
Challenging yet fun
Beautiful course. I’m relatively new to golf so this was challenging, but really fun to play. Will definitely be going back.
Beautiful but slow
The group two ahead was hitting from the tips, multiple tee shots because they were either in the woods or only reaching the forward tees. I saw another review, probably from the group in front of us. They complained about the group in front of them and said it took 3 hours to play the back nine. I’m glad we left after 12. Beautiful facility, friendly staff, but they need to have the marshal keep an eye on pace of play.
Always classy
Got great deal on golf now , so overall already I’m a winner , couple of consistent things going on here , they are always nice and kind to all !!! The course is in good shape from T to G , and the food is always delicious, need I say anymore , thx
Very nice course - lots of trees, challenging if you don't hit it straight
I have played Bowling Green many times when I lived in NJ, but I now live in California. I played with my nephews this week. The course is excellent (except the 4th hole which needs full remodel..) and the conditions were very good - the greens were medium speed, i wish they were a little faster. Lots and lots of trees to avoid. Bunkers were decent, tee boxes generally OK. Greens smooth but a tad slow for me. But I like it. Prices have gone up quite a bit since 20 years ago, but if you have the money, enjoy and play, if you don't you can find better value.
Great find!
Beautiful layout in great shape. Only problem was pace of play. The group two groups in front was slow as molasses, hitting multiple tee shots, taking time looking for lost balls, hitting from the tips with 100 yard drives. 🙄 There is another review on this site which I think is from the group in front of us. He said it took three hours to finish the back nine. My wife and I quit after 12 holes, and it’s a good thing we did. We will definitely give it another shot just based on the staff and the facilities.
Slightly overpriced for course
Generally a nice course, pretty easy and open however greens were slow although in good shape but slow. Our foursome
Felt that the greens fees were high compared to other well maintained public courses.
