Bowling Green Golf Club
About
Bowling Green Golf Club is in the heart of northern New Jersey, surrounded by miles of idyllic countryside. An abundance of mature oaks and towering red pines characterizes the scenic course. This quick, shady layout is a great round for walkers. The golf course has a classic links design that is easily played in less than four hours. Like most traditional links courses, the gently undulating terrain has the perfect pitch and roll. It also provides each hole with unique challenges that require accuracy and strategy. Trees heavily line the fairways, presenting some of the course's most formidable challenges. Bowling Green Golf Club's front nine is slightly more forgiving than the back nine, which incorporates the natural ponds and wetlands on a few holes. There are also some tricky doglegs to contend with.

6th Tee Photo submitted by agurango on 05/24/2013
Course was in good condition. Pace of play good.We were not able to drive cart on a number of the holes so had to walk a bit.
There was no cart to offer beverages and snacks. After 9th hole waited for 10 minutes an no one came to counter at Halfway House for us to order food and drinks. We had to move on to 10th hole in order to not slow up people behind us.
More rangers needed
The pace of play today was 5 hours+ on a course that should play 4 - 4:15. We (a twosome) we’re stuck behind two incredibly slow foursomes. The group in front of us had no sense of etiquette, i.e. talking on the phone on the 7th tee while we were trying to hit up and put off the 6th green. We called for a ranger when we got to the 8th tee. He sped them up for a short time and then they were back to their slow pace. Eventually, we skipped two holes ahead that we played after finishing the 18th. Absolutely no excuse..
Below Average
You can do much better for a round of golf than Bowling Green. With Berkshire and Crystal Springs nearby, I would suggest either over this sub-par course. Very wet and swampy conditions, lots of mosquitos, strange layout. Then the rude starter had the nerve to yell at me because my cart got stuck in a mud pit directly off the cart path. Do yourself a favor and skip this overpriced course.
Bowling Green Golf Course
Tight challenging course. Undulating greens
Overall course waa in good shape but Fairways were being aerated and Greens had a lot of ball marks and divots. Friendly staff
Played in 4.5 hours. We were never slowed down. I would recommend playing this course and I will be back to play again soon
One of the best
This is one the best courses around here. It was a little wet in some areas but that’s expected with the rain that came through.
A great round of golf
A terrific morning of golf and very impressed that an email to provide alternate driving directions was sent to me as the road to the club was under construction. Wonderful and helpful staff and rangers who kindly explained the cart rules. A very nice day and I was lucky to be paired with 3 other women to play with.
Perfect day
Weather was perfect on Friday. Got out a few minutes later than our 8:57 tee time. Turned out they had a promo with golf now - free draft beer at the beer garden. Pace was a bit slower than normal but we finished in about 4:25. Conditions were great. Greens rolled well and were in great shape. Sand, fairways, rough - all great shape.
Super golf course!
This golf course tucked quietly away off Milton Road is the find of the year! Every hole has a different layout. The fairways & greens are in excellent shape. A practice range & putting green are available. It is a walkable course but most golfers use carts. The halfway house offers a delicious lunch. Lunch or dinner in the clubhouse is very good.
Always a great time
Was paired with 3 other guys, great day and always a course I really enjoy playing, 4 hour round and we never waited to play!!
Hidden Gem
Underrated ....very nice course, great value, good condition, challenging enough from the back tees. Always enjoyable
Staff was top notch
Staff at course was friendly and helpful! Course was in good shape and always challenging
Great Experience
I've golfed here perhaps a dozen times in the past 4 or 5 seasons.... and EVERY time I go there: The friendliest staff I've experienced on a golf course. 95% of the time its very good pace of play. Excellent value for the very upscale conditions and perhaps best of all : VERY tasty food ... including one of the best burgers I've ever had on a golf course! Well done Bowling Green!
