Bowling Green Golf Club
About
Bowling Green Golf Club is in the heart of northern New Jersey, surrounded by miles of idyllic countryside. An abundance of mature oaks and towering red pines characterizes the scenic course. This quick, shady layout is a great round for walkers. The golf course has a classic links design that is easily played in less than four hours. Like most traditional links courses, the gently undulating terrain has the perfect pitch and roll. It also provides each hole with unique challenges that require accuracy and strategy. Trees heavily line the fairways, presenting some of the course's most formidable challenges. Bowling Green Golf Club's front nine is slightly more forgiving than the back nine, which incorporates the natural ponds and wetlands on a few holes. There are also some tricky doglegs to contend with.

6th Tee Photo submitted by agurango on 05/24/2013
Hack-friendly and fun little course
Bowling Green is a nice little gem of a course. I'm pretty much a hack, so I always go for early tee times. Course is relatively wide open and fairly forgiving for a guy like me. The conditions are always impeccable, and the GPS that's built into the cart is a real nice touch. Not a real long course (except for the par 5 18th, which is a beast), and there is a decent amount of water, but most isn't in play unless you skull or pop it up off the tee badly. Greens & bunkers well maintained. Can't really comment on food/drink, as I decided to eat on the way home. All in all, a real nice, playable course.
Great local course
This is my favorite course to play when I don't feel like traveling up to Wild Turkey or down south to Neshanic. Course conditions were great! 2pm tee time caused some waiting on the tee boxes, but overall a great round.
Love Bowling Green GC
Staff was friendly, course was in excellent shape. Views were great, greens rolled true. We were members from 1992 - 2000 and still think the course is very special. We play it every time we are in Northern NJ. Will rejoin if we spend summers in NJ.
scenic view
Well maintain course would play again like the narrow
Fairways golf carts with GPS was nice to have helped with yardage
Great day
Very nice course. Well manicured. Greens perfect. Some fairways very wet with poor drainage but overall excellent.
Just as I remembered
I played this coarse all the time years ago before I moved to Florida, it's as I remembered. It's a tucked away, quiet, tight challenging coarse. The coarse was in excellent condition. The fairways were great to hit off of, the bunkers were dry raked fluffy soft sand easy to hit out of and the greens were true and challenging. I went out in the afternoon and was finished in 3 1/2 hours! It was an all around great golfing experience and I look forward to getting back there again.
Nice to play
The course is in very good shape, if you can hit the fairways then playing off them is a pleasure. The rough isn't as challenging as most courses, but there are plenty of trees if you go offline. Narrow fairways, some good elevated and lowered greens to hit, with a bunch of water holes to add a great look to the course. Highly recommend playing, a little pricey, especially refreshments and food. I wouldn't trust the GPS in the cart all that much, although it's a classy feature.
Nice course layout and good greens
This is a good hitters course. It has some nice doglegs and the fairways are in great shape. It was very wet when I played it so there was no role on the ball. The course drained well after a large storm the night before. The staff is very nice and the grill room was excellent. The food was great.
Only one thing wrong
There are no diagrams of holes on the tee box or scorecard. With that being said there are many holes where the green is not visible due to dog legs or slight dog legs. If your new to the course you have no idea where to aim. You would think a semi private course would have the hole diagrams on every tee box.
Overpriced
Very AVERAGE facility. Not worth the price, and forget the 4hr round. Obnoxious ranger didn't get it. Couldn't get any food until the turn. Other courses in the area are lower priced and far better layouts and in better shape.
BGGC - Hidden Gem
The course is in great shape and is extremely enjoyable. 3 of the 4 par 3's play 165-205 yds, with one a carry directly over water. Fairways are tree lined on both sides and will carry a penalty trying to get back into play if you miss. Course management is key - playing for your 2nd or 3rd shot is just as important as the tee shot.
enjoyable round
course was in GREAT shape...was close to country club conditions. greens were rolling true and hardly any ball marks.....even the traps were mostly raked.
Great Course, challenging greens
Great course with challenging greens.
Even after rain fall the past night with wet green conditions, the green was not slow as expected which added difficulties as the greens already had some challenging contours. The pro shop could need some improvements as they didn't offered much varieties. However GREAT golf course, and I will be back soon.
Tight tight
This is place is tight and and tricky. Luckily we were paired with a single who knew the course very well. So tight tricky and clearly long. Good luck. Very well kept though
ANDREW
The course is a nice mix of hole types and challenges. Many of the greens are guarded tightly by trees, sand, and the occasional pond. Overall great shape.
Worth the money
This course is in excellent condition. The greens were in great shape and made the experience at this course well worth it. Will be back in the coming weeks.
Value for money
If you're looking for a value for money, this course meets your demand nicely. The course is beautiful and gives you enough challenge to keep you honest and interested throughout the 18 holes play. This course may not be up to the PGA tournament types of standard in terms of challenges and scenic views, etc., but it certainly gives you the feeling that you are rounding in an above average course with its design and maintenance of the field. At the end of the day, I came home satisfied for the money spent cost effectively. Looking forward to visiting this course again soon.
Nice Day
Great course for the money in excellent condition. Played from the blues the course presented a nice challenge, greens consistent speed and the one bunker I found was pristine and a very nice range for warm up.
A gem
Beautiful course with mature trees that make this classic layout a real gem. Plus there are no condos lining the fairways. The staff is friendly and helpful and keeps the pace of play at 4 hours, a real pleasure.
great course
everything was perfect-the course, the people.. just a great day, the girl in the food shack was friendly and helpful and both Pete and Jack were terrific.
