Course used to be great, now it’s in shambles
This course used to be a hidden gem in central Jersey. Well kept, great layout, enjoyable. They had and still have a beverage cart on weekends, and the restaurant/bar afterwards at the Clubhouse are great. But the course is in terrible shape this year. Really overgrown areas in the rough that used to be kept up with. Not sure if they are going for the punishing second cuts like pga tournaments, but this is causal golf in central jersey, and it just looks ugly and unkept. And god forbid you hit it there, you’ll almost never find the ball. It’s like this on nearly every hole. Just looks like an attempt to save money. At $80/round, just unacceptable conditions. The greens were also in poor condition. I know weather has been a factor, but this course is in some of the worst kept shape I’ve seen any golf course this season.
Weather
Weather has affected the course. I remember in years past the course was in better shape. Not sure if anyone checked on pace of play. It wasnt great. I ill likely play here again at some point.
Solid spot!
First time playing and I would go back. The staff is very friendly. The course was overall in good shape but needed some work on the tee boxes. No cart girl and clubhouse was out of the way at the turn. If they had a cart girl I'd give it a better rating but when it's 95 degrees and no way to get beverages outside of hole 9 that's not great. Overall solid course.
Good practice
Rough was decently long. There was unnecessary cabbage around the course , easy to lose ball on a miss hit. Doesn't need that as it retirement community/ county course. Staff at clubhouse was hit and miss, first guy I delt with was rude, second one was very nice. On first tee waiting in cart for pace, two walkers walked right in front of us and hit into the people we were waiting for. On the turn we were waking on them each hole untill 18. Ball was picked up twice by passer by on adjacent fareways.
Great day got there a little early went right out very hot
Everything was good just on the back nine There was some group playing with like 12 guys on the green .next to us …we were teeing off no big deal they were enjoying themselves 😼😼then on 17 we found a wedge we asked the group ahead of us. They took it …the wedge it turns out it wasn’t there club another guy driving around looking for it. Ridiculous. I guess we’ll just turn them into the pro shop. From now on.!! I guess their father‘s never taught them integrity
Just OK
I was able to book for a discounted rate due to the rain. If you paid full price for the round it would be an absolute rip off. This is a $35 muni all day. Beware, no driving range or chipping area to warm up; just a very small putting green and a net. Beers were good though.
nice course
good if you can get Hot Deal otherwise $71 is a bit too steep. Fairways and greens good condition; T boxes need help. SUPER FRIENDLY staff
High Expectations, Low Results
I expected far greater conditions due to the kind of spring we have had. Most courses in the area are in incredible shape right now. Meadows is obviously struggling with conditioning, which has always been an issue for the past 10-15 years. The county continues pumping money into their other properties, while others struggle. The ponds are horrendous, fairways are sporadic, tees are very bad, and the greens are slow and unevenly mowed. There are geese issues every year, and a constant nuisance of neighboring residences that allow kids on the course. The “bunkers” are nothing but holes in the ground.
It’s telling that a lot of the recent positive reviews are being made by the same person, possible an employee at the course. Be weary before booking a round here.
Mr Bru Bru
Course was in Great shape. Greens in VG condition and Consistent. Fairways cut real nice. Must have a different person in charge. They r putting a Real effort into this course. And it shows!!!
Enjoy!!
Mr BruBru
Great layout. Must be a different superintend. All the greens were in nice shape and consistent. Fairways were also in good shape. Looks like they r def doing work there. Go enjoy!!!
Fairways in need of repair
The front 9 was ok but the fairways on the back 9 were in horrible condition. I will never play there again
