The Meadows at Middlesex Golf Club

This was my first time playing Meadows at Middlesex. I was paired with three friendly local golfers and I had a great time. The course has a good design and will challenge golfers of all levels. The course needs some general maintenance and appears to have been neglected for a few years but I was assured by the pro shop that improvements were underway and that appeared to be the case. I would play the course again.

Not sure if the greenskeeper knows this, but mowing the fairway lower than the rough is the way to go. Couldn’t tell the difference between the two in a lot of spots.

Greens were ok, strangely discolored and extremely slow. Someone said it looked like some kind of damage in the greens but the Ranger didn’t know.

“Bunkers” need done badly. A lot of mud and rocks, and the ones you could play out of were not raked unfortunately.

Tees were in horrendous shape. Very beat up.

Course probably needs a few million dollars invested to survive. Most likely won’t be around in a few years without some major improvements by ownership.

Worst time I’ve had playing this course. Wasn’t in great condition. Pace of play was extremely slow and had groups of kids picking up our balls while also driving their golf carts on the putting green. Was a waste of a day for our group.

The course bunkers have rocks, and they aren’t raked. The fairways are patchy, you cannot tell the difference between the fairway and the rough. The greens were not too bad, but they could use some work.

This use to be one of my favorite courses due to the layout. However, the course conditions have tremendously declined. As many others have stated you can’t even tell the difference between the fairway and the rough. Grass was very long, greens were extremely slow, tee boxes hadn’t been maintained. Several of the greens were completely covered geese poop. Definitely not worth the money in its current state

Great layout. Some tough holes on the back nine. Greens were very consistent but a bit fluffy. U didn’t need to roll ur ball in the fairways due to some bare areas.

Overall very enjoyable. Will def go back.

Starter and staff were extremely friendly, pace of play was great, the practice green had a full hiitting net (which more facilities should have IMO) - but the fairways and greens were in seriously rough shape.

I was hesitant to post any review because it seemed the course was taking enough heat.

But after reading that the greens weren’t mowed for the weekend we played because the greens keeper was “trying to not stress them out” is a joke. It’s April and from what I could tell the course was packed.

But it wasn’t just the greens. You couldn’t even tell the difference between fairways and rough, the grass was so high. Is there a maintenance budget at this course? Tell Middlesex County they have to actually spend money other than Tamarack…

This place is atrocious, I've played this course multiple times and the course is in the worst shape I have ever seen it. I don't think I even seen a greenskeeper or superintendent on the course this year. The guys used to be out and about working on all kinds of stuff and you could tell the course was on its way up, I'm not sure what happened but this course is not worth the money it cost to play here anymore. Save your money! I just kept hearing from people and the other reviews I have seen on here are the saving grace supposedly is they hired a new superintendent, and are going to be working on irrigation problems. I have talked to other players that play here on a regular basis about this and they said it's always been promised to the course and never happens. This must be a township thing like they said, it's a shame cause this place has a lot of potential and I've seen that with in the last two years but it's taken two steps forward and five steps back this year.

Slowest greens I've played on in years. Bad experience.

I've played this course for years and this was the worst conditions I have ever seen at this course. Greens were not cut and most fairways were lacking grass.

Greens were very slow and not smooth. Some of the slowest greens I have played in the area unfortunately. Greenskeeper definitely didn't cut.

Pace was annoying, group in front lost a ball on almost every hole. Ranger said it was normal for the weekend to be that slow. I think we finished just a little over 5 hours.

Desk staff was very friendly.

I like the course layout. Conditions of the greens and front nine fairways was fair. The back nine was in better shape than the front. For the price its a good deal. Staff was friendly and the nineteenth hole was great.

Course has what appears to be great “Bones”. It’s a nice challenging layout. Problem is the conditions are poor. Tees boxes and fairways are a mess. Need to find a tuft of grass on fairway to place ball. Lots of dirt and crabgrass. Greens were very nice and undulating. Problem was they are extremely slow. Had to smack ball to hard all day. Course needs some love and money. With attention to conditions this could be a nice track. Until then I won’t be going back

I think the design of this course is terrific—the Finger/Fazio design is apparent. However, the course conditions rival a dog track. I could not tell the difference between the rough and the fairway. We laughed when my ball was in the middle of the fairway on a hard pan. Greens were furry, but when cut may roll okay. Was told there is a new grounds superintendent and that they fixed the 200 or so sprinkler heads which were broken. I'd like to play again in 3+ months and see if there's a difference.
