About
River Vale Country Club (formerly known as Bergen Hills Country Club.) sprawls across the gently rolling hills of northeast New Jersey. It has been ranked on Golf Digest's list of "Best Places to Play," but it still manages to remain one of Bergen County's most well kept secrets. You'll hardly ever run into crowds on this golf course. The layout has a classic design that incorporates a variety of elevation changes. Tricky uphill and downhill lies will be your biggest challenge on this layout. Strategically placed bunkers lurk beside the greensides and there are several holes where water hazards come into play, including the par-5 fifth, which has a lake on either side of the green. River Vale a tight golf course that demands accuracy and while it's not overly formidable, your skills will definitely be put to the test.

April - Tuesday Golf
Despite all the rain, the course in overall very good shape...and always great staff.
Some greens are in bad shape and/or cut too high but it’s still early in the season!
Course is much improved
After many years of being in poor condition this course is now one of the better courses in Northern New Jersey. They’ve cut down many trees along the course which has improved the sight lines and improved the overall beauty of the course after it had been poorly maintained. Carts come equipped with GPS. Pace of play was also very good. Can’t wait to play here again.
No on course snack car, greens need some work. Lay out is great.
Brutal Greens, etc
Some are diseased, others damaged with tracks running through and all are aerated. Impossible to putt. Many bunkers are being re-built. Many, large areas of re-sodding but the sod is brown/yellow. Uprooted trees ! What happened to this place? Very sad.
Beautiful course
Great looking course, holes for all levels, long & short. Hats off to the maintenance staff the fairways & rough were surprisingly leave free, magic or hard work! Look forward to playing again when the hot sun comes back.
Good course
Played when it was cold and hardly anyone on the course. Two holes have winter greens as they are repairing those holes (bunkers).
Great course. Had a lot of fun.
