About
River Vale Country Club (formerly known as Bergen Hills Country Club.) sprawls across the gently rolling hills of northeast New Jersey. It has been ranked on Golf Digest's list of "Best Places to Play," but it still manages to remain one of Bergen County's most well kept secrets. You'll hardly ever run into crowds on this golf course. The layout has a classic design that incorporates a variety of elevation changes. Tricky uphill and downhill lies will be your biggest challenge on this layout. Strategically placed bunkers lurk beside the greensides and there are several holes where water hazards come into play, including the par-5 fifth, which has a lake on either side of the green. River Vale a tight golf course that demands accuracy and while it's not overly formidable, your skills will definitely be put to the test.

Country Club greens
First time there. Course in great shape. Finished in 4 hours
Greens in great shape and were quick for public course. U def would like to be putting from below the hole whenever possible. Overall in very nice shape, looking forward to visiting again.
Beautiful
First course I played 20 years ago, don’t remember being so nice. Conditions were flawless probably due to lack of play in the pandemic. Unfortunately was not given a cart when told that they would be available, because it’s a tough course to walk it being hilly and all.
Unreal
Played a twilight round and got a full 18 in. Unreal course conditions
Immaculate
course is in pristine shape. . With covid rules of 2 golfers at a time only, played in 3 hours with individual cart.
Surly staff
Early season play, course did not honor golf now price, charged $50, Pace of play awful course condition below average, layout challenge not memorable in any way. Needless to say I will not be back.

nice track. walking only, No rental pull carts, rakes or ball washers during the virus scare. No concessions, etc. Doing what they can to stay safe. Nice track and good staff.
Not bad
Not at all bad for Christmas Eve, eventhough you could not place the tee in the tee box cause it was frozen, but certainly no fault of the course. See you in the Spring when the course is beautiful and plays so well!
Great course for the price
I played River Vale Country Club and was very impressed with the course, staff and pace of play. I think it's the best deal for the price in the Tri-State area. They also have a great 19th hole with good food and drinks. Staff is outstanding.
This is got to be my favorite course in the Metro area. it is always challenging and always in great condition! very impressed with the consistency would recommend this course to anyone !
