About
River Vale Country Club (formerly known as Bergen Hills Country Club.) sprawls across the gently rolling hills of northeast New Jersey. It has been ranked on Golf Digest's list of "Best Places to Play," but it still manages to remain one of Bergen County's most well kept secrets. You'll hardly ever run into crowds on this golf course. The layout has a classic design that incorporates a variety of elevation changes. Tricky uphill and downhill lies will be your biggest challenge on this layout. Strategically placed bunkers lurk beside the greensides and there are several holes where water hazards come into play, including the par-5 fifth, which has a lake on either side of the green. River Vale a tight golf course that demands accuracy and while it's not overly formidable, your skills will definitely be put to the test.

Wow
I want to tell you not to play it to keep it more open. But I’m telling you to play it bc it’s in incredible shape. The best greens all around I have ever seen on a public course. They are fast and not bumpy. They are also sloped out and demand your full attention.
Great work by the grounds crew here. No wonder this course is getting more and more recognition as one of the best public courses in NJ
The greens were in excellent conditions and the pace of play was great. Overall it was a great round of golf! Will definitely play here again.
Unbelievable Greens
Very well kept, greens as true as ive seen in awhile at a public course. Lil pricey for a Friday morning 85 bucks but worth it..
Public course with country club feel
Course in excellent shape ... greens immaculate and true... bunkers were placed in fair spots. Very enjoyable round.

The place is kept extremely well for a public course. Greens were even better quick and consistent
Tough layout quick greens but def worth the money and fun
Great public course
They had one of the best public course carts I’ve uber driven. They have GPS for every hole with distances to all hazards. A little tight of a course but very open because there wasn’t too much fescue or woods so it was easy to find ball on a tough shot. Great maintained greens and holes
Gem of a Course - Great Greens!
The golf course and especially the greens match any premium Westchester County Private Golf Course. My only criticism is the proximity of a number of the holes. The tee boxes on a number of holes are close to one another and from the prior hole.
This semi-private golf course rivals the most exclusive private courses in Westchester County.

Greens are tough
Really love the course and the greens are super tough. not long at all from the tips but the greens make it really hard.
A couple of the teeboxes were not in the best shape but other than that the course was great!
Best Greens in the Area, Hands Down
Course in excellent shape, but the real stand out is the greens. They are true and rolling at country club speeds consistently throughout the year.
