My buddy and I have been looking for nice courses within an hour radius of NYC, and this course came up on Golf Now. I'm glad we chose River Vale CC, as it was one of the best we've played. It was in excellent condition, both the fairways and greens, the staff were very helpful and friendly, and the bar afterwards was nice as well.

RVCC is semi-private, so it maintains some of the country club feel overall. The course is very well maintained. Although not especially long, the design has great character and the GREENS ARE TOUGH! That’s where the course defends itself. They were running fast and hard to hold. Great fun.

Only cons were that I noticed many bunkers weren’t raked, and while most seem to have sand , some weren’t in the best condition and needed more sand. But overall fine and way better than any country course...

pax’s of play was great for front 9... one 4some, 3 groups ahead of us backed up the whole course on the back... but the rangers fixed and we were moving well again by the 12-13th

Can’t wait to play this course again. Better practice short game and putting. Because you can have an excellent ball striking day and find yourself struggling to make Par!!

**example- 9th hole.- stripe a 3 wood down the middle- 8 iron into the green - FW in reg. G in reg. First putt catches slope rolls off the green, putted up the slope from the fringe and the steep slope killed it.. leaving another 10 footer.

Result... 4 putt double bogey.... ... flask please

Paid $54 on Golf Now otherwise rate would be $84. This course is the best public course in north eastern New Jersey.

Greens are impeccable smooth and fast. Overall conditioning really good. zero complaints. Pace of play usually smooth. Greens can be tough with old school undulating slopes. Some very tough para here but overall very playable course for all skills.

I’m not familiar with the top clubs around but I do know the course is in excellent shape. The design is beautiful and fun to play.

With the one, small exception of a brown spot on one of the greens, River Vale is in exceptional shape despite all the recent rain. And, they have new, relatively quiet motorized carts for the 2019 season.

This course has gone through a complete metamorphosis. It is in amazing condition. The greens are as good as most private courses. In the past you needed to role the ball in the fairway. NO MORE!!!! The fairways are great and the rough is as good as you would expect from a course in this condition. What a great job in bringing back this course to greatness.

Course was in great condition. Staff was friendly. Pace of play was perfect. Loved my round af River Vale Country Club.

Very good experience, first time playing this course. Layout was perfect for my 14HCP, challenging enough but not overly so. May be too easy for low HCPers though. Track was in perfect condition. Greens were fast and challenging. Great practice facility as well. We all had alot of fun!

Over the past 15 years I’ve played River Vale on average about 3 times a year and I can say the course is in the best shape I’ve ever seen it in. The new management has cut down trees along the fairways and throughout the course to open things up. The greens were in perfect shape and the pace of play had my group 15 minutes ahead of schedule. Also a nice feature is having GPS in the carts which is a great help. After the round the clubhouse was filled with people eating food and having drinks. Not much else I can say to help this course but I highly recommend it.

It's a solid course to play. Has some good holes with distance. Not tricked up which I like. surprised how fast greens were and how nice they were this time of year. Sure not exactly smooth yet, but they really rolled out. Some tough pin placements particularly number #1. Not sure you can stop the ball on the green if your first putt is from above the hole with pin in the front. That green needs to be fixed to prevent balls from running off. And slows down play too!!!! there was a Ranger. He didn't do much to help move the foursome n front along since they were getting too far behind group in front of them.

Beside being very disorganized (getting from green to tee) the fairways were in horrible condition. Greens were OK, round was very slow on a 45 degree weekday morning.

I recommend playing golf as much as possible,
