About
River Vale Country Club (formerly known as Bergen Hills Country Club.) sprawls across the gently rolling hills of northeast New Jersey. It has been ranked on Golf Digest's list of "Best Places to Play," but it still manages to remain one of Bergen County's most well kept secrets. You'll hardly ever run into crowds on this golf course. The layout has a classic design that incorporates a variety of elevation changes. Tricky uphill and downhill lies will be your biggest challenge on this layout. Strategically placed bunkers lurk beside the greensides and there are several holes where water hazards come into play, including the par-5 fifth, which has a lake on either side of the green. River Vale a tight golf course that demands accuracy and while it's not overly formidable, your skills will definitely be put to the test.

Very good course, excellent greens
Course was in fantastic shape especially the greens, which were fast but true. Pace of play was great but it was a Tuesday midday round. Highly recommend especially if you get a hot deal

Super
This is a super enjoyable golf course. The conditions were excellent even considering that the greens were recently aerated. It is fun but competitive course.
NNJ Gem - A Treat to Play
This was my third time at River Vale. A very nice layout that is always in very good shape, especially for a public course.
The greens had just been aerated so I got a bargain rate of $41, including a cart! The course was in terrific shape otherwise, as I've come to expect.
Good range with TopTracer available and a decent practice area (bunker, chipping green and putting green).
It was cool, cloudy, windy weekday and pace of play was fantastic. My twosome finished in 3 hours and 10 minutes.

5th time playing this season. Always fun. Always in great condition.
Bergen Gem
Rivervale has gone extensive changes to improve course conditions. I would consider it now the premier public course in Northeast Jersey. Great layout, near country club like greens and overall well above average course conditions make this an excellent course in a highly populated region which is quite rare.
Slow
Round was looking like 5+ hours. No ranger anywhere in site. Got stuck in the worst 4 some ever. They like to trap you for as long as possible on the course so you have to buy their over priced drinks and food. I left after 9 holes, best move i ever made. $84 -$104 for this course is borderline criminal.
Rivervale is in great shape!
The course has really dried out and is currently in excellent condition. Pace of play a little slow but not annoying. I usually shoot just under 90 here so for low hcp might not be challenging enough but it does mostly have well protected greens that are in excellent condition, fairways in excellent conditoin, rough generally good condition.
Love this course, lots of fun to play!
Great course conditions at a great price
Really true greens that are quite fast but play really well. Course staff was extremely friendly. Par 72 not far outside the city which is a rarity. Highly recommend.
River Vale Country Club
Simply a wonderful place to enjoy golf. From bag drop, to check in, to tee off, to play, to beverage cart, to finish...simply great. Will return soon.
