About
Spooky Brook Golf Course in Somerset is a player-friendly course that is perfect for beginners. It offers just enough of a challenge but it still allows you some room for error. At 6,655 yards from the back tees, the golf course is relatively short but the greens, tees, and fairways offer plenty of room. The mostly flat terrain makes for an enjoyable walk and it's also wide open. While the golf course may not be the most formidable test, it does have a few challenges in store. Water has a presence throughout the course, especially on the back nine. Whether or not you are looking to hone your skills or if you want a casual round, the well maintained golf course appeals to any skill level. In addition to the course, Spooky Brook G.C. also has a driving range that you can use to warm-up.

Great course for a fun round
We always enjoy playing a round at Spooky Brook golf course. We generally get there once or twice a year. As a Hot Deal, the round is a great value for non resident players. The course is relatively flat and fairly wide open. Spooky’s main challenges are the smallish greens and green side bunkers. The whole course is in really great shape but the greens roll a little too slow for my taste but it is a great place for a fun stress free (almost) round. Enjoy !!
Beautiful day out
Course is very walkable. Greens were very slow as they needed to be cut.
Great day at Spooky Brook
Spooky Brook is in very good shape, with healthy grass everywhere. The greens a still healing after aeration, so they are smooth but also a bit slow. When the greens are rolling again I would give SB 5 stars
No Amenities
No chipping
No ice chests on carts
No mobile refreshment cart
Staff does not leave clubhouse to speed up pace
Limited vending
Very hard ground silver tees. VERY difficult to press tee into ground.
Hard greens, ball rolls off back or play 5yds short
Everything was great but the pace.
We had a foursome two groups ahead of us that were teeing in pairs. As in two people would tee off then drive ahead then the other two would go. A couple of them had no business playing the blues. The 5hrs I was on course not a single ranger put them in check.
I was in a threesome and the group right in front was a foursome. By the turn a large amount of us gave up and left. It was only me and two people from the group in front that turned into a threesome.
Starter knew this was gonna be a problem when he watched them (the super slow group) tee off on hole 1.
Great shape
The whole course is in Amazing Shape. If they re did the bunkers the place would be even better
Very Playable Golf Course
Second time playing here, and it was solid. Good shape, and very wide. Easy to walk, so no need to take a motor cart.
You’ll enjoy it.
Solid
All good as expected at Spooky.
Second time playing the course this year.
Greens were slow, but overall conditions were very good
Favorite NJ course but...
I consider this my home course as a Somerset County resident and I typically play here a couple of times a week when I can but it's now in the worse shape I've seen in 15 years. The crabgrass is rampant everywhere including the practice putting green apron and many of the fairways and tee boxes are in terrible shape as though the wrong chemicals were used that either put burn splotches on them or killed the grass. Finally, too many greens look like fungus or rot is spreading. Hope whoever's in charge of the course maintenance there is seeing this and addresses it immediately. Quail Brook and Green Knoll are in much better shape though not as forgiving which makes this course so much fun to play but right now, the poor condition is a real drawback...
