Spooky Brook Golf Course
About
Spooky Brook Golf Course in Somerset is a player-friendly course that is perfect for beginners. It offers just enough of a challenge but it still allows you some room for error. At 6,655 yards from the back tees, the golf course is relatively short but the greens, tees, and fairways offer plenty of room. The mostly flat terrain makes for an enjoyable walk and it's also wide open. While the golf course may not be the most formidable test, it does have a few challenges in store. Water has a presence throughout the course, especially on the back nine. Whether or not you are looking to hone your skills or if you want a casual round, the well maintained golf course appeals to any skill level. In addition to the course, Spooky Brook G.C. also has a driving range that you can use to warm-up.

Great shape
The whole course is in Amazing Shape. If they re did the bunkers the place would be even better
Very Playable Golf Course
Second time playing here, and it was solid. Good shape, and very wide. Easy to walk, so no need to take a motor cart.
You’ll enjoy it.
Solid
All good as expected at Spooky.
Second time playing the course this year.
Greens were slow, but overall conditions were very good
Favorite NJ course but...
I consider this my home course as a Somerset County resident and I typically play here a couple of times a week when I can but it's now in the worse shape I've seen in 15 years. The crabgrass is rampant everywhere including the practice putting green apron and many of the fairways and tee boxes are in terrible shape as though the wrong chemicals were used that either put burn splotches on them or killed the grass. Finally, too many greens look like fungus or rot is spreading. Hope whoever's in charge of the course maintenance there is seeing this and addresses it immediately. Quail Brook and Green Knoll are in much better shape though not as forgiving which makes this course so much fun to play but right now, the poor condition is a real drawback...
Well taken care of, greens were very nice and quick. The course is wide open which allows for speedy recovery of any bad shot, which helps with the speed of play. We played with four elderly women ahead of us and never had to sit and wait on them. I would definitely play it again.
B-
Course was in good shape. Not much interaction with the staff, maybe they didn’t want to go outside in the heat. A ranger or two would certainly help the pace of play.
Nice course will be back another time - SLOW PLAY
Granted we had a 5pm tee time. The group infront of us had no urgency to finish. All of them played like Patrick Cantlay…2 hours for 6 holes on the front was ridiculously slow pace. We ended up playing the front 9 2x and finishing. Good conditions will be back at a different time. Carts have to be in right at 845pm.
I only played 9 holes because of the pace of play. 1 group held up everyone. When they made the turn and no one from the course made any attempt to move them along I left. I understand it’s a public course that attracts many seniors like me but a 5+ hour round is frustrating. How difficult is it to see 2+ open holes in front of a group and tactfully move them along?
