Course is Greatly Improved from the Last Few Years
The course struggled in 2023 and 2024 and was in bad condition and it received a lot of negative reviews. It is much better now. The fairways are in great condition and most greens are in good condition. There are still a few spots they are working on. Some sand traps need some work. But my round was very pleasant and the course has a great layout. There was an issue with a lot of carts breaking down but they said new carts are due in soon.
Deerwood
The greenskeeper staff is working very hard to bring the course back to perfection. Fairways are nice and greens are very putt able. Course is fair but keep ball in the fairway. Course is also fun but has several challenging holes where an optimal tee shot is required.
Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Overall great experience. Reccomend course highly.
Good Value
Deerwood has a nice layout and challenging holes. A good value . The greens (minimal bare spots) and sand traps (need to be raked) could use some attention.
Great experience. Will be back.
Finally made it out ti Deerwood after being told by a friend for years to come here. A tough course if you miss off the tee. The course was in great shape with the only blemish being that 14 green had some sand patches on it and was slower than the rest of the course. Will definitely be back.
A tad to pricey for what you get
Course has a decent layout and is very score-able. Biggest negative are beat up tee boxes, and dead spots on some of the greens. Also three of the greens on the back were cut longer so they rolled way slower. Hate that kind of surprise mid round. I think I would have been happy paying less, but who wouldn’t be. Just didn’t feel this was an $80 course. Recommend investing in better grounds crew, a friendlier ranger, and a sign where to drop carts off.
Much left to desire
The course is decent at best. Priced WAY to high for what your going to get. Grass in the bunkers, teeboxes have holes and grass missing everywhere, and some greens were beat up. Fairways for the most part were very good.
Great course
Hidden gem golf course. The golf course is in great shape, surprised by the lay out. I really enjoyed the round. Food is excellent as well. A+ Golf
Hidden Gem
Always love this course! One of my favorite in south Jersey and the staff is on point.
Absolute Gem!
An overall exceptional experience! Deerwood CC is a great layout, good conditions (and only getting better), and exceptional service. Special mention to the Head Pro, Cory, who tied the entire experience together. Excellent service and an overall great person. It’s a great time out there!
Impressed with the turn around on this course. It’s recovering well from when it dried out. Played twice already this year, today being one of the rounds. Conditions were nice, scenic par 3s on the back 9 in the woods. Good pace of play and awesome staff. Squeezed me in on a last minute tee time
Today.
Love this course.
It's always a great time playing this course. I enjoy the distance and challenging par 4s
Much better than it used to be
This place was in horrible shape for a couple years, but this year (2025) they seem to have turned a corner. It's not perfect, but they fixed most of their bald greens, and barren fairways and the course is generally all grass now which is a big step up on years past, when you hit a beautiful drive in to a fairway of compact dirt or mud
I think they over manage golf cart driving at this place, a few holes you are cut off from the fairway easily 100 yards away from the pin, which is very annoying for rate of play when the course is full (it hasnt been full very often lately), and there always seems to be a ranger lurking around, which was ironic given the state of the course for years, like an armed guard at a 7-11.
Keeps getting worse and worse
Every time I play this course it is worse than the time before. I keep hoping it gets back to conditions 2-3 years ago but its going in the wrong direction. Patchy greens, weeds everywhere. I was told they put fertilizer down that morning, but when I got to the first green I was surprised to find it covered in sand. Nobody mentioned that. All of the greens were like putting in a sand trap. I wish I knew that ahead of time. I will not go back here until ownership/management changes. I can't imaging having a membership here.
Overpriced for the quality
Don’t waste your money here. The course is not in good shape. The greens were aerated and they still charge almost 80 bucks for a round. Also, hole 16 was closed.
Stay away
I couldn’t imagine that the course could be in worse shape than it currently is. The fairways had more weeds than grass, tee boxes were terrible but most of the greens were decent. It was cart path only because “it’s too dry”. That’s the first time I have ever heard that one. They have the nerve to charge $80 as if the course is worth any more than maybe $30. Do yourself a favor and stay far away. If it continues the way it is I’d be surprised if it was still open next season.
Father's Day Blast
Playing Deerwood again, suits my eye, just enjoy this course...
Going on 20 years of playing here, hard to believe, also that we still have Greg Farrow; hard to believe we met each other 20 years ago as well.
Thanks again for another memory, this time with my son for Father's Day
Not a bad course
The course is very well maintained but it is poorly designed on the back. Several fairways are nearly side-by-side so be aware of errant shots.
The course did not accept the Victory Golf Pass because the owner does not need the business due to the overabundance of play caused by Covid-19.
We play this course several times a season but this year it was like Deerwood saying, "We are doing great this year, so screw you"... I guess Deerwood CC will not need our business in 2021.
Solid 1st Impression
Great course, well maintained. Didn't see a ranger all day then in the 18th fairway he appeared to caution pace of play???Finished in 4hrs 15min on a holiday Fri. No on premises outdoor 19th hole options.
Deerwood Country club
Played the course late November after all the leaves have fallen. The course was in great condition as the maintenance staff really did a great job keeping the leaves off the course. As for the course itself, it is not a long course if played from the white tees but is challenging. There are several holes with areas that need to be carried by the tee shot. The hole layout is not typical as front 9 and back 9 with a return to club house, you don’t see the club house until completion of the round.
With all of these comments, I still would recommend this course be played, I alway enjoy playing it.
Hidden gem
I really was surprised by this course. I never really heard about it especially with it being relatively close to the city. It's not the longest course but it has a lot of forced carries. It is in great shape even after they just aerated the greens. They have back to back par 3's which you don't see to much but you can understand from the layout why there back to back. I really enjoyed my round here and would recommend this course to anyone who hasn't played it yet.
Thanks so much for this review. I live near by and haven’t ever heard of it, so wanted to give it a try after seeing it highly ranked on here.
