NMSU...A great course
Definitely one of the best courses in southern NM, always in great shape, presents a lot of fine shots
Hot Deal & Fast Round
Our twosome was first off at 8am, and we played in 2.5 hours!! Fairway is still brown, because its winter, but greens were in good shape. Some aeration of the course was taking place.
Course
I really like NMSU GC, but the fairways are in really bad shape. It is like hitting off concrete.
Great value
NMSU Golf Course is well kept and is a great value for the price.
Good Winter Condition
Played in mid winter and the course conditions were all you could ask for. The Greens were full and fast albeit a little on the firm side. Pace of play was great for a wonderfully warm winter weekend day. Price couldn't be beat for the round.
Bad Wind Day
The wind predictions were way off. 10 - 15 mph turned into 30 - 40 mph. Filthy Weather Liers!! This is basically a nice course with an interesting layout but the greens were in bad shape. The fairways were not too good either. Overall, I would have to classify the conditions as only slightly better than Cow Pasture Golf. I'll give them a bit of a pass because it is winter but they need to improve overall maintenance.
Still the best golf course around Las Cruces
This golf course will never fade away, it has a timeless layout design, It is challenging for all levels, some holes will reward your round and some will take it away. You'll find elevated greens and elevated tee boxes, breathtaking vistas from #11 (par 3) towards the valley and the Organ mountains. The driving range and practice putting greens are top notch and yes you always hit balls from real grass.
Excellent golf clubhouse, restaurant and facilities.
Golf Carts have GPS and walking is allowed all the time which is a plus for any avid golfer.
Sometimes place of play could be slower than usual due to so many golf league tournaments
Great course
It is a wonderful course with just the right amount of trees, sand traps. It's always in great shape but of course there are times when ground matinence has to be accomplished and that's a given on any course. You won't be disappointed in playing this course. The greens are challenging. I play this course as often as I can and so should you.
Literally every time
The course is generally pretty nice and people play at a fair pace yada yada, all that good stuff. I run in to the same problem no matter if I play in the "winter" or in the middle of the scorching summer. The grounds are constantly being worked on as if no grounds keeping takes place before the first tee time. In the middle of your round it is not uncommon to have sprinklers pop up and start watering the fairway and greens. I get it, it's the desert. It's hot in the summer and there are occasional frost delays in the colder months but get on it with the grounds keeping. Maybe start at the 1 or 10 (which ever the start is that day) and roll on through like someone would for a round so you're not getting in the way of the golfers.
Great course
Great course. Had a great time, course was in great condition and was challenging. I will definitely play again.
New Mexico State University Golf Course
I had the opportunity New Mexico State Golf course of course was in great shape staff is very friendly check in was easy and the course was in great shape.....
Beautiful golf
Greens were perfect. Fairways almost perfect, but this is spring and the grass is starting to fill in.
NMSU Golf
I have played this course several times in the past, I find it an excellent way to expend your golf day. The course is always in good condition and the staff is always courteous, friendly and helpful.
Love this course.
This is a great golf course to play. Love playing here.
Pace of Play
It continues to be an issue.
They take pride on being a family course. It is great but at times it becomes an issue. Kids playing around. Dress code hardly ever enforced. Time and time again we see 5 and 6 somes out on the course.
There are days they should warn people or just close the course for the day. Yesterday, they had 24 division 2 teams practicing on the course for a tournament. It was a 6 hours round of golf as the teams were out as a 10 some at times. I think it is best for everyone to just close the course on thise instances.
Must Play
With the awesome clubhouse, great course, good food and the pro shop. This is a definite must play course in southern New Mexico.
The course
This is a great course to play on for beginners. However the fairways and rough are not very good turf grass and the greens are very challenging to read. The bunkers here are the best in town and I love their driving area at this course because you hit off grass! This is a great course to play on but there is better in town!
