The Swan Golf & Country Club
About
Located just 5 minutes off of the New York State Thruway in Saugerties, The Swan Golf & Country Club (formerly known as The Lazy Swan Golf Course) is a championship 18-hole course designed by Golf Architect Barry Jordan. The course has been exquisitely crafted as “a series of linked passages of natural beauty” with each hole presenting its own unique character and challenges for players to overcome. Players will encounter several cascading and reflection ponds, rock outcroppings, dramatic elevation changes, an alpine garden, and beautiful views of the Catskill Mountains.

challenging course
course was in need of lots of work which is kind of expected this time of year in this part of the country. they wee working on the golf course . and as a rule I would highly recommend to any and all to play this course. Lots of fun. Can't wait to play it again.
Come and see this place
Was told for years not to play here by colleagues and fellow golfers due to the difficulty and lack of playability. Goes to show that you have to play it to believe it. Found out that the difficulty of the track and the elevation changes proved to be too much for the prior reviewers.
As a former golf course superintendent and Turfgrass student, this course far surpassed my highest expectations. Tee to green, the conditions were immaculate, and the water features and natural areas enhanced the aesthetics. There are some tough holes here, and the par 5's are some of the best in the hudson valley. Will be beck again and again.
Thanks for the great review, hope to see you again!
Lazy Swan Golf Course a "Gem"
We played the Lazy Swan Golf Course in Saugerties NY for the first time and it was one of the nicest rounds of the year. Its located 1 hour south of Albany NY and just off the NYS thruway... The layout is very good and in fairness you really need to play it once to know where your shots need to go.. There are some uphill shots that are blind holes and the sizes of the greens are not known to the golfer....However that shouldn't discourage you from playing this course more than once.....Very happy we discouved it here on Golf Now...
Outdoor bar closed
course was in excellent condition and the price was right! Unfortunately the outdoor bar was completely shut down. One of the reasons to travel to this course is the outdoor Bar which is beautiful and the food was also very good... Was disappointed we could not relax with food and a Beer especially after shooting my best score after...
What A Gem!
Great layout with beautiful scenery and Vistas, awesome holes , a fantastic 19th Hole, not to mention a Head Pro who makes sure that everyone is taken care of! GO PLAY!!!
Thanks for the great review!! Hope to see you again!
Excellent staff.
I've reviewed the golf course, 5 stars. This is about the staff. Every time I've played here, the staff has been friendly, professional, and accommodating. As my tee time approached, the Pro informed me that two of the other three in my group had not arrived and allowed me to go on my own rather than get passed by other groups. Not sure it would have happened elsewhere, greatly appreciated. The round before this, a Golf Now member was supposed to go in a 4some, but decided to go on his own. The staff was irritated, who wouldn't be. They calmly handled it in a professional manner. My guess is that any negative comment about the staff comes from one who does not respect the rules or the staff. This is a 5 star group of people. Golf Now members, there are a few of you who should have some respect.
Thank you! A golfer that gets it. A 9:50 does not mean 8:30 or 10:30 or whenever you can make it here. Hope to see you here again!
Nice track, surly staff
Loved the course. Fairways, greens and bunkers were in excellent condition. Some tee boxes were a little rough, but that's what the tee's for. Checked in early and was verbally abused by the proshop for showing up early. The place was empty, and we played in under four.
We showed up early with no expectations to tee off any earlier than our reserved slot. I appreciate the courtesy you showed to allow us to go out early, however, you should have looked upon it as an opportunity, rather than an annoyance. By sending us out early, everyone benefited. Our benefit was that we got to play earlier, and faster. Your benefit was that we paid for a tee time, that was going to go unused. This also allowed you to fill the time we vacated, with another twosome, or singles. In other words, we gave you the opportunity to sell the same tee time twice. Your welcome. First one's free.
Nobody meant to verbally abuse you. I was just explaining that you were over an hour early for your tee time. You booked as a 2 some and you were paired with 2 other singles. That means a 2 some had to follow a group of 6 and 3 foursomes.
Course was in great shape, not hard, not easy, very challenging, greens rolled very well, this course is a hidden gem, definitely will be back because my wife and I had fun playing
Thanks for the great review!
Lazy Swan
Club Pro was great. Course was in great shape. Great time with my son
Thanks for the positive review. Hope to see you here again!
Love the 19th hole
Love the 19th hole. Had a nice round. Pace of play was perfect. The course was in much better shape than it was the year before.
Sand traps are still an issue. Hard packed and in some cases lots of rocks. Obvious answer is to avoid the sand traps, duh.
The 19th hole is absolutely the best part of the pla e . Just a beautiful venue. Open air bar, friendly service. Worth the trip up to Saugerties, just for that alone.
Glad you enjoyed the course. The bunkers have been a work in progress, we have added 60 tons of sand this year and we will continue to improve them.
Lazy swan
We had a great time playing this course. The layout was interesting and challenging, yet playable. The fairways had been cut tight and the greens were beautiful and quite fast. The outdoor cafe and bar was the perfect ending to an enjoyable round of golf in the Catskills.
Hope to see your group again! Thanks for the feedback.
Good course for the $
The front 9 holes were changed and we weren't told that. Our GPA trackers didn't work, which was frustrating. There were very few ball washers (I am a bit of a fanatic about that) and there was only 1 water cooler on each 9. But, for the money it was worth the play. I did lose about 6 balls on the various water holes.
Sorry you had a problem with your GPS, we changed the hole layout over 6 years ago, so most GPS devices have the update. If you play again, we can tell you how to set your system, so it works. We can also tell you what holes have the watercoolers, we have 4 cooler, 2 on each 9. Hope to see your group again.
great stop between NYC & Saratoga
If u have not played very difficult to know where to put ball on 4's and 5's. Greens are good shape and difficult. How good is the Thursday Happy Hour?
Thanks for the nice review!
Super experience
Greens fees are ok. Course is lots of fun. Lots of open areas, but tough approach shots. Good mix of holes with great views. 19th hole is super! Actually part of the course when playing from back tees. Lots of fun!
Hope to see your group again!

We are doing our best to get the course into top shape, Mother Nature has not been kind to us so far this spring.
