Rockland’s Best Muni
Great golf holes and layout. Short distance from Manhattan. The conditions of the course were excellent for this early in the season and a fair challenge as you can play 6200-6800.
Rainy spook rock
Despite the overnight rain and rain during the round, the course remained in good shape
Rainy day
Unfortunately course was saturated with water . Still able to get the round in.
Early spring conditions, and greens lightning fast. But few people on course on bad weather day made for a very leisurely round, even with cart path only.
Slowest round of the season
I have played some 70 rounds and this was the slowest. After 2 hours, we were on the 6th tee box waiting for the foursome in front of us to hit. We could see that the 7th 8th and 9th holes in front of us were empty. We called the pro shop to complain, and while they sent someone out, nothing changed. Took 2 hours 45 minutes to finish the front nine. I skipped three holes to get in front of the slow group, and found 5 empty holes in front of the slow group. This is controllable to some degree by the course, and they chose not to deal with it. Disappointing.
A bit disappointing based on past experiences
A 5 hour round is not acceptable
A failure to address excessive leaf issues is not acceptable - simple solutions are available
Failure to have a alcohol license to sell a beer at the turn is not acceptable
Failure to have any course rangers moving things along is not acceptable
Course maintenance and supervision is going in the wrong direction
