Not so well in Sanibel
Greens and tee boxes awful. Fairways were exactly that, fair. Over priced.
Don’t play here!
Total DOG TRACK! I can’t believe they get over $125 for this place. Greens couldn’t be in worse condition if they tried. Find another place or just throw your money in the trash. Only good thing was the lady in the Pro Shop. She was nice but unfortunately it didn’t offset the horrific experience they call a golf course. Yes the pictures are of their greens! #GolfPurgatory
Poor Greens
Premium price for damaged greens. The course should be upfront about the damaged greens and lower the price until they have been fixed.
Not so well at Sanibel
The price for 18 holes for a course of this condition is hard to imagine. Greens we awful. Standing water, I understand there was a storm on Sunday. No excuse for the greens. The starter and the person in the pro shop were very friendly and helpful
Sanibel Golf
Greens were in terrible condition and for the price we paid you would expect top condition.
SIGC
Great bones, poor condition. Staff catered to locals and members, tourists were steerage.
Overpriced
$200 got my wife and I no practice range, absolutely horrible greens (maybe it's normal this time of the year in FL), no water on the course, only one bathroom on the back nine and no beverage cart. This is semi-private so I'm sure the members get a better rate, but it was pretty bad. Booked through GolfNow, but didn't get a note about the lack of course amenities until after we paid online. Poor GolfNow process. People should get all course info before paying.
Greens in rough shape
Greens in rough shape
Overall the course was in pretty good condition but many of the greens we’re not good at all.
Not a top choice
Based upon Golf now’s reviews, the write up, the high price of the green fees even hot deals , the location we were expecting A+ course and conditions. Instead it was very sub par…. Greens were in very poor condition having poor or no grass, lots of green “painted” areas, very small geeens , tee boxes with very poor grass. The fairways had good grass and the layout of the course was pedestrian at best. I would not recommend the course and won’t be back. There are so many other choices in the area.
Nice course in a great place
Sanibel Island GC is a bit rough around the edges but it is an interesting layout albeit rather short. there is lots of water and sand. Sanibel Island itself only has two public courses and this is the best of the two. Conditioning could be better. Very friendly and helpful staff.
improves every year
A terrific staff who has been there for the past 4 years and always friendly and accommodating. The attached restaurant is now open daily and takes orders at the turn with great food. The conditions were bad five years ago, but have improved every year and now are good. The layout is challenging and fun. We now play here several times a season while we are vacationing in Sanibel.
Has a blast….but
This was the first time playing the course. I was a bit concerned when booking the TT as I read the reviews about the awful condition of the greens . The greens were better than advertised as the group adjusted to the speed and conditions. The tee boxes and greens were fine but certain areas in the fairway were under repair. Our group lowered the stakes and had a blast. …and the beer at the turn was ice cold!
Front 9 Greens are Rough
Good layout but the greens, especially on the front 9 are really bad. Lots of patches, very furry and sandy. On the stimp I’d say they are running about a 5, like the fairways. Fairways are in good shape though, and the back nine greens are in much better shape. Back 9 has some patches on the greens where they are trying to bring it back, but better overall. They are probably like a 7 or so on the stimp on the back. Not too bad. They have a captive audience on Sanibel, so I understand the $100 greens fees. It’s a fair price for where it is, just wish the greens were more playable. Looks like the greens are on their way to recovery if the back nine is any indication. But you’d think this time of year, they could get them in better shape.
