Fair and fun course
The course was in very good shape but we were not told on the Golf Now app or when we signed in at the course that the greens had.partially gotten a top coat of sand throughout the course. The holes were well designed. The staff we met were very friendly and when the person checking me in discovered it was my first time playing the course, I was given a booklet explaining the best approach to playing each hole. The restaurant is closed (although opening back up again soon).
Overpriced
Nice staff, fun course but way overpriced. Greens were in very poor condition. Needs work.
Fun Layout
We played the Saturday after the tropical storm hut so the course was still soggy but playable. We played from the tips and there was definitely adequate length and trouble to challenge all skill levels. Price was a little expensive but expected since it was on Sanibel. There is a putting green but no driving range. We’d go back.
Overpriced
Haven’t played a course so mis-priced for years. Neither the layout nor the condition of the course is in reasonable relationship to the price.
Better to play the nicer but still lower priced dunes course on Sanibel
Great Experience
Smooth reservations and challenging play. Smelled the gulf breeze, delightful.
Sanibel vacation
Golf course is in excellent shape. Fairways are perfect. Greens roll true. Layout is challenging with a lot of risk rewards options. Drew in pro shop is fantastic and offered yardage book to help with learning course. Played 4 rounds during my stay on sanibel. Would recommend playing here
Iguanas + gators + ospreys = Birdies
We LOVE this course. We live just down the road about an hour South of Sanibel in Naples. There is no shortage of great golf courses in our neighborhood, but this island track makes you feel like you're playing a round of golf on an island in the Caribbean. The subtropical plants, trees, and wildlife are EVERYWHERE and it's both magical and beautiful. The fairways are generous and the rough is fairer than you would expect. However, the hazards are truly dangerous, and the greens can be spotty and slow. The rates will be going up now that summer is over and the snowbirds are on their way back to Florida so we will be missing our golf road trips to Sanibel Island Golf Club.
Great Course and Owners
I have lived on Sanibel for 26 year's and have recently started playing the Sanibel Island Golf Course more than once a year I have found the owners and the course excellent you can tell they have put there heart and soul into making this course the best it can be and has ever been period. They appreciate your business and it shows have played there 4 times this summer know my wife and I by name course greens fairways better than they have ever been in the 26 years we have lived here I would highly recommend this course to anyone either visiting or living here who has not been here in a while it is greatly improved from the hard work of the owners. Enjoy
Lots of water
Course was in good shape. You need to stay in the fairway. 14 of the holes have water that can be penalizing. Greens were not perfect but rolled well. Cups needed yo be cut better - many bad edges. Overall, an enjoyable experience.
Needs Lots of Work
I have wanted to play Sanibel Island for a long time. So I finally got a tee time that I figured would not be to busy at 1:15 pm. I was right, there wasn't anyone around. The staff was great and explained where everything was (water, restrooms, etc.) I got my own cart, loaded up my bag and headed out. The course had sand for most of the cart paths. There were little patches of grass for tee boxes, and the course was very close between holes. It was not what I was expecting. I thought it would be in great shape as we get ready for high season. The course was beat up, bald spots on the green. Workers were cutting down several trees and other brush. So maybe it will look better in another month. But it is not worth $60.
Fun course good deal
Front 9 is difficult with so much water. Back 9 is much more enjoyable. Overall great deal and had a great time
Border line dump! Save your $$$
For starters the staff checking us in acted like he had better things to do than check us in. We were one of 3 cars there. We took advantage of GolfNow and paid $54 after fees. But I’ve SERIOUSLY would not spend anything over $25 to play this course! It’s truly that bad. We are getting ready for season down here in Florida. Find anywhere else to play for WAY less and nicer a course. I wish I took pics just to show you how bad it was. In fact the last 4 holes they didn’t even have blue tee boxes.... nothing!
So many other nice places to play for WAY less down here, come down and enjoy just not here!
PS. At one time this place looks like it was a gem! Now it’s literally a dirt clod.
So let's see... you played the course the first day opening after aerification and being closed for a week of maintenance. All tee times were published with an aerification notice, maybe you just didn't read it?
Anyway, the course is certainly 'beat up' after aerification (which is why we tell people). But that's what happens during the off-season as regular maintenance. I will tell you now that the course is in it's best shape in over 20 years! Constant feedback from Members has been nothing but positive. And the homeowners living around the course are thrilled with the improvements.
Beautiful Fun course
Course was friendly, beautiful, lots of fun wildlife to observe. Due to recent rains they’re we’re some muddy parts & lost balls that normally would have been playable if not so much water. Understandable! Gene, was great! Friendly, knowledgeable & super helpful!
Play Under 3 Hours
We are visiting Sanibel for two weeks and have played here 6 times. Each time was under 3 hours. It is a very nice course with excellent staff
Has a decent layout.
The off-season rates are more appropriate for this course. Some work needed, specially on some of the greens. They do seem to be working to improve the place. Need to be mindful of homes alongside the fairways.
What a silly review, I really don't know where to start.
First, let me say this course is in the best shape it has been in for over 20 years! Just talk to the homeowners & Members... they are thrilled.
So on to the silly stuff... sand for cart paths? Simply not true. Many of the tees have aggregate areas around them which allows golfers to drive right up to the tee boxes. Saves on maintenance and speeds up play. As to the tee boxes you mentioned, again just not true. Large teeing areas on most of the holes, with many just recently made larger and extended. And I really don't get "the course was very close between holes". Guess everyone needs there space :)
This course has improved so much, give it a shot. You won't be disappointed!!!
