Nice scenery & layout - but poor condition
The course is located in a very nice area and has a nice layout and scenery. But when you pay that greenfee you would also expect the course to be in a better condition. Teeboxes and bunkers have been in very poor condition, the greens are also not in the best condition. Staff has been very friendly - but course is not well organized. No starter managing the groups. They also didn't notice my booking done via GolfNow - and initially charged the whole amount again (once I noticed they refunded without any problem). Worth to know that they do not have a driving range.
A bit pricey for the conditions
For a little over a hundred bucks I thought the course could have been in better shape. The greens had been sanded and sliced recently and when I commented on this, I was told that is normal and it is done monthly. It definitely affects putting. I felt there should have been a discount on the full fare rate for this. Layout is good, and interesting. Lots of different looks. Some holes a bit narrow especially from the back tees. After golf the Blue Coyote is the best. Great bar. Grate staff, Probably the best dining on the island for dinner, and definitely for lunch.
Just ok.
Starter at.7:30 am.
Pass was good
Tight course with lots of water.
Tee boxes were ok. Greens were beat up. Lots of run on the course
Too Much Money For Greens Fees
I had read the reviews, so "buyer beware". I would not play here again for the price I paid. I played because another in our group preferred to play here after playing The Dunes since The Dunes has far, far more water.
To echo other reviews, the tee boxes were generally bad. I moved the markers a few times to be able to tee off from semi-reasonable grass. I also felt the greens needed work. The fairways are an assortment of grasses, patchy, and not resulting in a consistent lie among the fairways. A ball in the fairway was always strikeable and could be played as it lay, but sometimes the grass was coarse, and sometimes finer. I wasn't always sure how the clubhead would react when contacting the turf.
Assuming the greens fees were not more than $45, this would be acceptable for the playing conditions. The laws of supply and demand would mean that lower fees would generate more play and more income for maintenance and improvements.
It could be a good, playable track if better maintained.
Tee boxes were atrocious. Greens were in horrible condition. Inaccurate yardage markers.
Nice but worn
Nice layout and great scenery. The tee boxes are in terrible shape and it's almost a challenge to Use. The course was ok overall but could use some much needed maintenance.
layout was nice
Overall conditions were not that nice. Tee boxes real small with terrible grass conditions. Bunkers were not raked for the 2 days we played there. Fairways not bad
greens fair but grainy. For the $45.00 it was a good buy. Three days later we were charged $75.00 not a good buy. The restaurant for evening meals is real good.
Challenging and pittoresk
We played as 2 flights and the course was not busy so it made it a round with great pace.
I was delighted to see how much work they had put into this vegetation and they must have worked extremely hard to get these great improvements with cutting these huge trees out etc. Greens were slow and a little bumpy but all toegether we enjoyed the course A LOT.
Staff on the gc was extremely nice as well as at the restaurant Blue Coyote where we got nice food after the round.
We all recommend this course and our first time players with us were glad to came out also.
Make sure to take your camera along!!!
Could be a good course
It could but it isn't now. The conditions on the course are below average, which is a real problem on an island that draws a lot of higher income vacationers looking for a nice course. It has a lot of potential - the holes are interesting, challenging without being overbearing and the views are good. The price though is comparable with the other course on the island and that's a huge problem because the other course is top shelf. Price should reflect quality but in this case it's completely disconnected. Worse, they only offer a couple of discounted rounds each day despite the course being lightly played.
Course conditions were not the best
Teeboxes were not good .... fairways ok, green ok but not very true
We were positively surprided
Did not expect that much just looked for a Tee
Time on the Island
What a surprise tofound a Very beutiful and Also challenging course in excellenta condition
The wildlife With birds, snakes and other animails
Was nice to see
Best service and friendliness
Sanibel Golf
Staff was extremely helpful.
This course unfortunately doesn't measure up to the other Public course on the Island. If you are only going to play one round, I would recommend the other course first.
We rented clubs, they were at least 4 years old, definitely not what you would expect from a course charging $40 for rentals.
The greens were very small and not well maintained. Shaggy is a good description of them.
Island golf
Scenic island course not in the best of shape. They should rake sand traps. One close to clubhouse was but not the rest. Tight front nine with lots of opportunities to lose balls. Back is wider. Maybe should reverse these two to give more time for warmup. Price we paid made it worth it. Young man who handled cubs and cart was a very nice. He was a great addition to this course.
Rick
The best condition I've ever seen this course in! They are doing a nice job of opening it up with removal of trees and old growth for a more playable and picturesque experience. Greens still a bit bumpy and sand traps were unrated but overall I'm delighted with the improvements!
Great Time
Before playing I read the reviews of this course. Based on that I almost played some place else. These bad reviews are way off base. This course plays well, has a great layout and is in much better condition than I was led to believe. The greens rolled nice, fairways in great condition and it is a fun layout. Yes there are a couple of browned out spots on the greens and no ball washers on the course but overall I look forward to going back there again. Another nice amenity is a book they give you with excellent descriptions of each hole. This is a real advantage when it is your first time playing
Dissapointed
This course has an Amazing layout however it is poorly maintained. It seems a course from a third world country. Staff is trying hard to fight off bad grass... The Bunkers are in poor shape....greens so so...
Urgent and serious investment needed...
Disappointing experience overall for a course with lots of potential. Only low point of my vacation in the area of Sanibel..
