Sanibel Island Golf Club

I hadn't played this course in 7 years. Used to be Beachview but purchased by a couple of local club pros. Long and short of it they try hard and the course is better than before. Complaints of tee boxes etc. don't recognize the attempt to minimize maintenance. Yes the greens are spotty but with over seeding are MUCH better than 7 years ago. Weather was wet and fairways wetter but you are on an island with more rain this month than the past ten years!

$100 is excessive but there are specials and I was glad I played. Totally different product from The Dunes but fun to play.

And everyone is nice.

Greens were awful........no grass........really?
Grass around t boxes almost nonexistent.
Not a bad layout but need a lot of TLC and routine maintenance.
Overall, not worth even half of the price in its present condition.

Narrow front 9 with tricky water.
we have had a lot of rain but there was so much "casual water" it was sometimes difficult to distinguish from hazards.no one was playing but we were interrupted on first tee by a group playing a club matchand had to follow this slow 4some for nine holes.greens were very bare and tee boxes in poor shape.
A short course but it was not on my gps which picked up all courses in 10 mile radius but not this one.
back nine is a little more open but the wind is even greater.
all in all a mediocre experience.
no water (for drinking)on course and only one washroom on the15th hole.

First, it is important to say this course is under new management, and have been working to improve the playing conditions. That said, the course has a long way to go to reach a level of quality to match the $100 price tag. Good layout. Short course. Front nine was very wet....fairways not draining. About 30% of the tee boxes and fairways are weeds. Greens are inconsistent....some slow, some really slow, and then others moderately fast. Lots of bare spots in the greens. Back nine is easier, and in better shape. Will not play here again.

The sourandings are greate and a very challenging golf course.

Played here twice in December. Nice layout and staff is nice but course condition is very poor. Staff mentioned all the landscaping work performed in recent months but the course needs a lot more TLC. Tee boxes and greens are as much sand as grass. Course maintenance is also lacking which makes the conditions very poor. Course pricing strategy is out of whack with the course condition.

I started by reading prior reviews of this course only to be in shock when I got there. Earlier reviews were just trying to be nice or way too generous but I have to just be blatantly honest here. It sounded like this is under new ownership but they are definitely not there yet.
I played as a single and was put out on the back nine to start. There was a weird odor throughout the course as I played. It seems that they are trying to reseed the tee boxes but still pretty rough. Lots of crabgrass (weeds), need some Kentucky bluegrass or something close to real grass. Absolutely NO water to drink on the course so be prepared. I paid just as much $$$ as The Dunes right around the corner but in phenomenal shape. The only saving grace was the threesome I got paired up with. Not yet there Sanibel Golf Club!

Ball washers on holes would be nice. Fairways a little thin. Good greens. Challenging/tight. Not long. Fun!

We played this course years ago when it was called Beachview. Had hoped to see improvements under new management, but not the case at all. Course in poor condition. Greens particularly slow (ok they had overseeded, but so have other courses we've played this week and those greens were much better) Not worth the visit, and certainly not worth the greenfee, which goes up to $99 in January.

Course was a little rough around the edges. Some holes extremely difficult off the tees. Would recommend because if you play the tough holes well, you can score anywhere. Lot a water

Very scenic golf course every hole is different.
Great wildlife and fabulous houses to look at on way around.
Good pace of play and excellent value for money.
Still a work in progress on most holes but definitely working hard at getting there.
Very friendly staff.
Definitely worth a visit.

More paths required to show where to walk to avoid new wild flowers and grasses that have been planted.

Beautiful scenery, water on a few holes provides for an interesting layout. Play smart, shoot straight, hooks and slices will get you into trouble. Greens were slow and not in the best of shape, fairways very good condition. Bunkers had somewhat hard sand. No ball washers anywhere, not even at the turn, the club really needs to put a few in, at least one at the turn at the pro shop?
I have never seen this before at a course in any price range and this one is higher priced. A hot dog at the turn was pricey and took too long to get. That said, the course is worth playing.

Tee boxes need to be refined. Most were loose and weedy. Fairways good condition. Greens are patched with weeds.

We had a bad start being paired with another 2 men
who were poor golfers with no etiquette at all. We made our excuses and left them at the 3rd hole. It was not explained to us about all the new plantings around the tee boxes and so we found the course conditions to be sand and soft ground for many yards beyond the tee boxes. There was some instruction on the golf carts but not on the cart we were given. Our cart got stuck in some soft ground after the 17th tee. The staff dis come to rescue us in good time after players passed us without offering help. We did see lovely birds and iguanas along the way. We might come back another year and see if the course is better. Sorry to say we were very disappointed.

Have played at Sanibel Island Golf Club many times over the years. After playing today, I was just quite impressed at all the positive changes made in the last several months. The tees are mostly redone with excellent grass and they are level. The greens were good and show some real potential. The biggest change is the addition of native / waste areas all over the course. These areas frame the holes and provide a much improved look and feel to the course. Fairways and roughs are now well defined by mowing. Along with the already scenic/wildlife filled layout, the excellent staff, courtesy and professionalism, this course is on a big upswing!! My complements to the owners and their staff, who have obviously worked their tails off to improve this island course.

The course was in very poor condition. Greens were about a 5 on the stimpmeter. No drinking water or ball washers on the course. They had a very prolific stand of crabgrass on the tees, parts of the fairways, and on the green surrounds. If you want to play on Sanibel, go to the dunes - we got a $20 rate through golfnow. We did, however, see a bald eagle near the 18th tee.

This is a tight course with forced carry shots. Lots of water and lots of wildlife to enjoy. Rangefinder or GPS watch is needed as there are not much for yardage markers. Greens were slow and general lack of maintenance but it had been wet so maybe they just couldn't get the machinery out. If you are not staying on Sanibel it costs $6.00 to cross the bridge to get to the golf course. Probably wouldn't go back.

Should not be offered on golf now. Course under construction and playing very short and cart path only. Call course before booking.

Mobile app for golfnow doesn't show course conditions. This course should NOT BE offered right now because of the conditions. If you want to spend $$$ on a course with temporary tees with no distance marked and torn up or overgrown everywhere go ahead. Wasn't even a nice drive around the cart path to get off because even that was cracked and coming up out of the ground
