Sanibel Island Golf Club

Beautiful scenery, water on a few holes provides for an interesting layout. Play smart, shoot straight, hooks and slices will get you into trouble. Greens were slow and not in the best of shape, fairways very good condition. Bunkers had somewhat hard sand. No ball washers anywhere, not even at the turn, the club really needs to put a few in, at least one at the turn at the pro shop?
I have never seen this before at a course in any price range and this one is higher priced. A hot dog at the turn was pricey and took too long to get. That said, the course is worth playing.

Tee boxes need to be refined. Most were loose and weedy. Fairways good condition. Greens are patched with weeds.

We had a bad start being paired with another 2 men
who were poor golfers with no etiquette at all. We made our excuses and left them at the 3rd hole. It was not explained to us about all the new plantings around the tee boxes and so we found the course conditions to be sand and soft ground for many yards beyond the tee boxes. There was some instruction on the golf carts but not on the cart we were given. Our cart got stuck in some soft ground after the 17th tee. The staff dis come to rescue us in good time after players passed us without offering help. We did see lovely birds and iguanas along the way. We might come back another year and see if the course is better. Sorry to say we were very disappointed.

Have played at Sanibel Island Golf Club many times over the years. After playing today, I was just quite impressed at all the positive changes made in the last several months. The tees are mostly redone with excellent grass and they are level. The greens were good and show some real potential. The biggest change is the addition of native / waste areas all over the course. These areas frame the holes and provide a much improved look and feel to the course. Fairways and roughs are now well defined by mowing. Along with the already scenic/wildlife filled layout, the excellent staff, courtesy and professionalism, this course is on a big upswing!! My complements to the owners and their staff, who have obviously worked their tails off to improve this island course.

The course was in very poor condition. Greens were about a 5 on the stimpmeter. No drinking water or ball washers on the course. They had a very prolific stand of crabgrass on the tees, parts of the fairways, and on the green surrounds. If you want to play on Sanibel, go to the dunes - we got a $20 rate through golfnow. We did, however, see a bald eagle near the 18th tee.

This is a tight course with forced carry shots. Lots of water and lots of wildlife to enjoy. Rangefinder or GPS watch is needed as there are not much for yardage markers. Greens were slow and general lack of maintenance but it had been wet so maybe they just couldn't get the machinery out. If you are not staying on Sanibel it costs $6.00 to cross the bridge to get to the golf course. Probably wouldn't go back.

Mobile app for golfnow doesn't show course conditions. This course should NOT BE offered right now because of the conditions. If you want to spend $$$ on a course with temporary tees with no distance marked and torn up or overgrown everywhere go ahead. Wasn't even a nice drive around the cart path to get off because even that was cracked and coming up out of the ground

The course was under construction otherwise conditions score would have been higher. Several tee boxes are in the process of being adjusted and re-sodded. The rest of the course was in very nice shape. Staff was very friendly. I look forward to coming back when the work is complete. Thanks

Hidden away in the middle of Sanibel Island is the Sanibel Island Golf Club. I did not know there was even a course in there. I had played the other course (The Dunes) but had not heard about Sanibel until I saw it listed on the GolfNow site. They are undergoing some repairs to the tee boxes and they do not have all of the amenities that other courses offer (driving range). However, the course is challenging, fairways are tight and the greens have some undulation to them. There are many trees and plants surrounding the holes and you have to be very accurate or layup on many of the holes. My friend and I enjoyed the course and would recommend it to anyone. It's not as easy as it may look!

The course is a bit unattended to in spots but the staff was great and for the money, well worth it. Had a lot of fun.

Coarse has plenty of water to make it very challenging. Beautiful scenery and plenty of wildlife.

much improved green and fairway conditions from a year ago. need to make sure golfers know that carts need to be in by 7pm. it is playable til 8pm now, so should allow carts out til then.

Nice course, wonderfull lay out, great wildlife, condition not to bad, a little pricy for the money. New management does what it can to keep the course in good shape.

Conveniently located course on Sanibel Island but the condition of the course is unacceptable. Tee boxes are void of grass, very small and uneven. Greens are terribly slow. Overall quality and condition of the course is poor - given the price of the round it is certainly a poor buy.

We travelled to FT Myers to play quality courses. Sorry to say that dispite the positive reviews, Sanibel was extremely disappointing. The course layout was nice and challenging but that is the only thing positive I can add. No beverage cart. No Washrooms on the front nine. Tee blocks were a mess, Grass not cut on fairways and greens that should be fairways. Travel too the course is difficult.
My biggest complaint is that we payed $80.00 based on reviews from people who felt it was a quality track. Not the case, save your money.
Golfnow needs to monitor reviews and charge relative to quality. I hope they enjoy our money, we will think twice about booking again with Golfnow.

If you're staying on Sanibel or Captiva, there aren't many choices for golf without battling the traffic back on the mainland. That's really the only reason to play this course. I'd describe this course as scruffy - the greens are slow, the fairways are very mixed, the tee boxes are beat up. But it's under new ownership and they seem committed to improving conditions.

This course is short, but makes up for it in some tight fairways and greens. It wasn't in pristine condition, but was in decent shape. Staff was friendly, but the restaurant service was lacking. Would recommend you try this course if you are in the area.
