No issues
Course is in good shape, pace expected on a Friday but good overall. Always have a good experience here.
Improving Conditions
Course conditions improved since my last round at Chestnut Mountain GC. Friendly staff and fun layout
Great Challenging Golf Course
Front 9 in superb. Back 9 is a little challenging to navigate and some areas are very tight.
Excellent course
Excellent course, challenging greens. Beautiful views.
Ok course
This course has some pretty good views, but the greens are super narrow and there are some rough spots in the fairways. They have a par five on the backside where you either need to hit a driver or a seven iron and it’s the most contrived hole I’ve ever played.
Most holes are great
Chesnut Mountain GC greens are in very good condition. Two holes that need attention are number 12 and 13. Mostly #13 the par 5. You need way less than driver from most tees and the key shot, your second, is most often a blind shot as distance is unknown and while there is a wide area to land your second shot, only down the right side of the landing area, will get any roll as only the right side is fairway-where the left side is thick rough. I will say that many holes have very generous fairways and sweeping mountain views are great. Several greens have a pretty skinny entrance to them, so accuracy is a premium. It has a wide variety of holes which you'll play better the 2nd time you see them. A very fun day & a friendly staff makes this a real treat for 17 of 18 holes. I'll be back!
Pleasant Chestnut Round
Course is in very good shape - greens lush & firm, fairways well grown & groomed, rough was challenging but not gruesome, traps a bit ragged & rocky, & pace of play reasonable. Enjoyed the round!
Chestnut Hills, Mills River, NC
Very nice course and the greens & cart fees were reasonable. Fairways and greens were in great shape. Only thing they need is a map of the course. It's a mountain course and it can get hard to tell the layout of some of the holes. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Will definitely go back again.
Has more potential
I have played here 5 times over the past 2 years, always improving. Greens, carts are excellent. But, there are issues that are easily resolved and others that will be more costly. Easy..... 1) tee box on 11, get the mower out, 20 minutes, grass was 3 inches high. 2) tee box on #12, overseed or sod, it is awful. 12 green approach, stream plants need to be cut way back, it is only May and the green is totally blinded from 120 yards out.3) 13? Par 5. Put some red top painted stakes on where to go. I know where to go, but any first timer would have no idea. Its a weird hole to start with, but with no direction golfers are lost. Lastly there are some wood areas on stairs that need more grip tape. When wet, very dangerous.
Fun layout
Fun course, plays long when it's wet, great views and a good time.
Definitely a Mountain course
My playing partners new favorite course. Not long but you will use all your clubs in your bag. A level lie is rare. Pro shop folks are extremely friendly and very helpful. Give it a shot ! We will be back.
Beautiful mountain course
This course was apparently closed for 2 years as it was being brought back to life. The course conditions are very good at this point. Truly an enjoyable golf outing!!
