Not worth it

Short, narrow course, super hard fast greens but zero sand in bunkers. Rocks and clay only For what they charge, it’s expensive.

Weekend Starter Needed ASAP

Played on a Sunday that was cart path only due to week’s worth of heavy rain. Even with path only conditions, 4500 yards should never take 5 hours to play. I was in a foursome with a twosome in front of us, a single in in front of them & a twosome in front on him. A packed weekend day demands mandatory pairing up to foursomes...no discussion. Course conditions were great with the exception of washed out bunkers. Will happily play again during a weekday, but will probably skip playing another weekend round here.

Did not realize this was going to be an executive course. Mostly par 3s.

Fun and interesting.

Sugar Mountain is an interesting Par 64 Executive with nine par threes, eight par fours and a single par five. Long hitters have a chance of hitting the P5 in two and a couple of the P4s from the tee. The P3s vary in length from a short 105 yards to 207 yards and there are a couple of dramatic elevation changes.

I always had a good lie in the fairways and the greens were in great shape and very receptive.

The course is laid out for walkers, but the pace was slow as it was full of golfers of all abilities.

I really enjoyed the round and saw some beautiful vistas.

Fun and Interesting!

Sugar Mountain is a fun executive course with 9 par threes, eight fours and a single five. Long hitters have a very good chance of hitting the P5 in two and a couple of the P4s in one. The par threes vary from a short 105 yards to a 207 yards creating unique challenges from every tee shot including a couple of dramatic elevation changes.

The pace of play is slow as the course was crowded, but it is laid ideally for walkers.

Club house and grounds staff are friendly. I did not enter the snack bar, so I’m not qualified to speak to its amenities.

Last point: Sugar Mountain sets in a valley and provides some beautiful vistas.

I recommend Sugar Top Golf Course

It was my first time to the area and first time to the course. I was a single and the starter quickly worked me in with another twosome. The course and scenery are stunningly beautiful! All the hills and trees and bubbling brooks make the course challenging but it was also short so I liked it. I'm 71 and normally play from the forward tees but since it was short, I could play from the whites. I will definitely return in the future.

Mountain Views ABOUND!

Played for first time with wife and other couple. Lots of elevation changes. Layout rewards the accurate and penalizes everyone else. Not a single green was simple for putting. HUGE breaking putts on some holes made for a truly challenging round. Length of course is perfectly fine for the average golfer though almost drove a couple of the par 4s. Would play again in a heartbeat especially now that we’ve played it once..

Mountain Golg

Great course in the Western North Carolina Mountains. Weather was great, 15 degrees cooler in the Mountains. Club house staff was were so friendly and helpful. Wish the bunkers were playable but with covid they made the right decision. Cooler friendly. Did not try any food in the clubhouse but others said it was great. Course was in great condition, greens were beautiful. Will be back, soon.

Par 3 course

I wish I knew it was a par 3 course, I wouldn't have wasted me time. It's half par 3s, the other half par 4s but you can drive the green on most of those too.

Wonderful as always but saddly

Well, today I played my last round of golf for the next 6 to months or longer as I prepare for a total knee replacement next Tuesday. I finally broke 85! I will miss playing here but will be back in the spring next year!
