Hidden gem.
Tucked away right next to I-70 in St. Peters, Mo., is this very well maintained friendly tract you can easily play in 3 to 3 1/2 hrs. Tree-lined, tight, lush fairways, and soft receptive greens make this a good choice. Bunkers are well kept and offer a challenge. Will be back!
Pristine Greens
Course is in excellent condition. Greens are firm but also receptive. Tee boxes are all great as well, except for one on the back 9 that was pretty bumpy. Greenside bunkers are actually raked and playable. Some drainage issues in a few fairways as seems to be typical for this course, with a some standing water.
Overall a good course, though rather short. Rarely need to use the driver, even from the blues, which does force you to be able to put your long irons in play off the tee with water hazards often coming into play.
This course was a great 9-hole course
Unknowingly, our tee time was immediately following a tournament. The wait at each tee box was extensive and any rhythm was unattainable. The course is well maintained but poorly design with tight fairways facing each other, and dangerous cart path approaches to two of the holes. An 18 hole course that was originally 9. Should have left it as it was. The challenge is not in the lay of the course, but in avoiding balls coming from every direction.
This course is a confidence builder.
The course was slightly over priced for the condition and the layout. The biggest drawback of the course is the tee box location in relation to the fairways of other holes. I heard fore yelled more on this course than anywhere else I have played since I was a kid. This course is not horrible if they charged between $18-$20 for a round. Comparable to paradise valley and sugar creek.
This course is great!
This course is well maintained, and challenging to the average player. Bring extra balls!
Quite scenic.
This was my first time on this course. Found it to be in very good condition. Thought the tree lined fairways and water made the course scenic and made it more than just an easy course. I will return from time to time.
Don't waste your time, if you do, you better have a lot of it to spare!
Course was extremely over booked, gave up playing after 14 holes, players ahead of us would not allow anyone to play through, course marshall was working that day but obviously not doing his job, tee boxes and greens were in poor condition. This was also the only course I have ever played that charged me to have a rider (who was in no way able to play) in the cart with me. 11 dollars for someone to sit in a cart and ride around is uncalled for. Definitely shows as a course for beginners to play since most there were playing in other fairways than their own. Not worth the time spent at all.
Good course but very slow play, attendants did not control or stagger tee times
Course was/is in very good shape, fairways and greens are nice.
Had a tee time of 12:20. Had to wait for 3 different groups, one group stated thier tee time was 12:20 also, another group had a tee of 1235 but attendant told them to just go, other group was 1215 that was late. Attentand told them to just go also.
Had to wait on every hole as there were way too many people, course did not properly stagger tee times, rangers were never seen and people were goofing instead of golfing.
This course is very accessible.
This course is in a convenient location and is one of the only ones available without driving a long distance. It is well maintained and can be played for a reasonable price. There are a number of difficult holes but enough "breather" holes that the course doesn't beat you to death. On a good day, the course can yield a good score. If you are spraying the ball around, your score can balloon.
Fun course to play.
I have played this course numerous times before and always find the course to be enjoyable. Not the most challenging course that I like to play but it provides some challenges. Pace of play was great as everyone on the course seemed to understand the rules and etiquette of golf.
This course is convenient to those living in St Charles and St Peters
I dont like it when you are playing 18 and the course lets 9 hole players start on hole 10 in front of you. Course needs a marshall
I liked how there was a mix of easy and hard holes really made the course fun to play!
Golf course was easy, fun, and hard all at the same time. Great variety of holes that test your skills!
slow play
need to have marshall patrol the pace of golfers more
Fun Course
I travel all over the USA for work, so I play courses in many different cities and states. This course was very well maintained, eapecially after a heavy rain the day before, which the starter said actually covered the entire course in at least a foot of water. Being a US Open weekend, it played slow, but that is pretty normal for that weekend. I am around a 12 handicap and found the course playing very easy.
Slow play, older crowd
Slightly older crowd lends to a slow play. When wide open, you can play this easy course in 2hrs I would imagine. Cheap course to go out and slap the ball around on. Not much for challenge.
good course. to play
The course is making improvements . That is s good thing to do.to improve play.
Good course to practice on.
Played on Memorial Day. Very slow play as would be expected. Cart path only due to the rain we had a week ago. Fairways still pretty soggy. Bunkers need to be refilled or sand replaced as most of them were just solid mud. Greens in pretty good shape.
Cart Paths need attention...
The course has recovered fairly well from last year's drought. The cart paths are really suffering. No snack bar after 9 holes, no courtesy hostess selling refreshments so stock up at the snack bar. The course layout is fairly tight so expect an occasional visitor from neighboring fairways. The course is marshy with all the rain that has fallen as of late. The rough is fairly thick. If I had to fix one thing it would be the cart paths that have deteriorated.
Course is a little tight for 18 holes
Overall it was a good pace of play considering the course was "cart path only".
What Gives!!??
My friend and I (along with his young child) went to St. Peters yesterday to golf 18 holes. The price was right (it usually is) and the weather was great, so we figured no problems at all.
We have brought his kid to numerous golf courses over the last year or so and have NEVER had a problem. Not even so much as a cross look.
We expected this to be the case at St. Peters. it is no different than any other course in almost every way.
The one difference is inexcusable and I will NEVER EVER EVER golf there again.
Somehow, this course has an AGE LIMIT of 8 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!
Needless to say, in order to grow the sport, you need new blood to keep things strong. Apparently St. Peters is not interested in anything other than rules and regulations, golf and all other things be darned.
So I guess if little Tiger Woods or Baby Phil Mickleson from all the commercials and videos would not be welcome at this golf course.
I will never golf at St. Peters again, even if they offer to pay me to play there.
In the past, the course has been nice enough. Decent pace of play and well enough maintained to merit a decent rating. I suppose if treating people rudely and barring children from playing golf is your cup of tea, play at St. Peters. You will be in good company.
