Rock Barn Golf & Spa offers two championship courses, one designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and the other by Tom Jackson. Nestled within the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the golf courses are provided with swiftly moving brooks and sparkling lakes that accent the wooded hills and lush, grassy meadows. The Jackson Course tumbles across picturesque valleys, offering both dramatic elevation changes and beautiful scenery. The layout is shorter and less demanding than the Jones Course but it is a challenge nonetheless. The undulating terrain demands accuracy and perfect ball placement. Fast greens are balanced by generous fairways. Water hazards also come into play. The course starts out intimidatingly with a narrow, uphill par 5 but the rest of the course is not quite as daunting.

Great vourse . Restaurant staff not so much.

My wife and i played the course on sunday Oct 31 and the course, pro shop and starters were great. The course is in great shape.

The bar and restaurant staff were slow . After our round we decided to eat in the restaurant. We waited for the 2 ladies to acknowledge us for about 5 minutes just to take our drink order. After looking at the menu the waitress returned to take our order. By the time she got to the bar two well to do gentlemen started speaking to her and she flirted with them for 10 minutes our ticket still in her hand. At that point she had not entered our order. We assumed the other gentleman's money must have been more important than ours so we let them know and left. Very poor service.

Great facility but inwould recommended planning lunch or dinner somewhere else.

Overall great course

Overall, amazing course that’s well kept. Since it’s mid fall, some greens are showing some brown. Only complaint is for future visitor ms of this course. PLEASE use the sand in your divots and repair your pitch/ball marks on the green. Didn’t make a divot or pitch mark? Take the 5 seconds to repair someone else’s. It’ll go a long way to keeping this course in great shape.

Great day on the links

My son and I had a great time at Rock Barn. The course was in great shape, fairways were immaculate and the greens were true and consistent. The views were cool, and the elevation changes made the course more fun. We didn't have to wait on the group in front of us, and we never felt rushed. The only negative was the maintenance crew member who drove up to the third tee just as I started to hit my shot. But, hey, if that's the only issue, I'd call it a pretty great day. I would definitely play there again, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

Course with many sand traps and water hazards

First time playing this course and it is one of the best courses my wife and I have played. Many of the holes resemble some of the PGA courses that I watch on TV. Sand bunkers protect all of the holes and water hazards supplement the course to make it very challenging. The next time I’m in the Charlotte area we will play it again and again, Proshop is well equipped.

Just OK

Pace of play slow. Waited 5 minutes to ten minutes on every single shot. Greens nice but people weren't fixing their ball marks. Fairways ok but mowed too low and tee boxes average. For the high price charged the course just didn't justify the price. 45 weekend with 35 after 2 would be more in line. Short easy course that is fun to play.

Great course

I live in Charlotte and will make the drive to play this beautiful course. I love everything about it except for the fact that so many people do not repair their divot marks on the greens. The greens themselves are very nice, but because people are so lazy and do not repair their marks they’re pretty rough in some areas. It’s truly a shame that people don’t respect this wonderful course! Regardless, I will keep coming back because I love the layout and challenges the course presents

1st time player

we heard many good things about this course and it held true 100%. Beautiful layout, however quite challenging. Manicured beautifully. Grounds crew very respectful of our play. We never waited for anyone. It was a perfect day of golf on a perfect golf course. We will be back for sure. Thank you!

Fairways are awesome!

The fairways are in great condition. The tee boxes are good but the bunkers could use a little more sand. The greens just had their fall aerification and should be back to normal by mid-September.
